Position: Senior Mine Engineer

Description:
This position performs all Mine Engineering functions listed in the job requirements and other tasks as necessary in support of the LVMC mine operations. The scope of this position is wide ranging in nature. Thus, this position will work closely with a complete cross section of personnel in the organization including corporate officers and site personnel in addition to third party consultants. Potential candidates should view this position with an interest in progressing to a position of additional responsibility (Chief Engineer) as future company assets are developed into additional, active mines.
General Requirements:
- Ensure work area & equipment safety inspections are being performed.
- Perform Job Task Inspections and Job Task Analysis.
- Identify safety, production, and maintenance needs and improvements.
- Ensure Compliance with all MSHA and federal and state environmental regulations.
- Ensure alliance building and coordination with other departments.
- Ability to work on-call and remain flexible with work schedule as work dictates.
- Develop / optimize mine plans for various commodity prices and production scenarios: o Equipment optimization scenarios o Pre-strip planning o Mine plan optimization o Short / long term mine planning with respect to operational and corporate requirements. o Detail mine design including ramp and haul road placements, dumping sequence.
- Work with mine geologist to accomplish effective ore control.
- Develop / manage orebody block models for various projects.
- Develop / manage drill hole databases in support of orebody modeling.
- Prepare reserve reports for auditing by third-party consultants.
- Detailed knowledge of various software, Vulcan, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Assist in the preparation of project and mining budgets.
- Perform economic analyses of projects and mining plans.
- Provide supporting data for project budgets.
- Prepare service contracts when required.
- Lead / support hiring of future technical mine salary staff and organize/train technical discipline teams once hired.
- Develop employee career development plans for direct reports in the operational environment.
- Ability to handle multiple job tasks and prioritize time and work.
- Other tasks as required in support of company objectives.
Job Qualifications:
- Proven safe work record.
- A Bachelor of Science degree from a 4-year, ABET accredited academic mining engineering program. A graduate degree and/or professional registration will be considered as additional positive qualifications but are not mandatory.
- 5 years of progressive experience working as a Mine Engineer. 2 of the 5 years should be at medium to large open pit metal mines (multiple shifts and equipment fleets).
- Team player, leadership, and good interpersonal skills.
- Experience in the preparation and reporting of mine reserves.
- Experience in all phases of Mine Engineering including short/long range mine planning, detail mine design, orebody modeling and operational engineering (blast sequencing, ore control and access design).
- Experience working with all levels of a mining organization including corporate officers as well as site personnel.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Vulcan mine planning software or similar programs.
- Experience in mine permitting activities (beneficial but not required).
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle in the performance of assigned duties.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirement:
- Work is in a mine setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes, or airborne particles.
- Work periodically may be in remote field conditions with a wide range of physical conditions.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear, and see.
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to sixty (60) pounds during the workday.
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses,
- safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.

Important Information Regarding Position:
This is a very important position pertaining to the production of copper at LVMC. You will have a great deal of responsibility and accountability in regards to aeration heap leach project operations and production. You will have responsibility for training and the safety of employees and can be held liable for such. It is a position that can be stressful but is very rewarding as you see the product shipped, and see employees grow and improve under your supervision. Your employment with
LVMC will be indefinite and at-will, which means that either you or LVMC may terminate your employment, with or without cause at any time, and without procedure or formality.

Compensation
$115,000-$125,000 annually. May vary dependent on the candidate’s specific qualifications.
