What You Will Do:
Astronautics Corporation of America is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer. In this role, you will work on the Connected Products team and support new development activities for the AeroSync Mission and AeroSync Max family of products. You will be an individual contributor and mentor to less experienced electrical design engineers. You will interface with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) as part of new product development activities. As part of the IPT, the Mechanical Engineer will take a design from concept through development and into production. You may also be assigned to support new business pursuits and technology refreshes of current products.
This hybrid on-site position is based out of our Headquarters in Oak Creek, WI. You will report directly to the Senior Manager of Connected Products.
How You Will Do It:
• Lead mechanical design efforts by designing avionics enclosures, including mechanical components such as heat sinks, stiffeners, cooling solutions, vibration fixtures, etc.
• Provide oversight and guidance to less senior members of the staff to help mitigate issues
· Package circuit card assemblies to meet aircraft environmental requirements as well as electrical-derived requirements
• Conduct both card level and box level thermal and vibration analysis to verify requirements compliance
· Develop mechanical test plans and execute required testing and analysis to verify requirements compliance
• Support current production and provide design and manufacturing recommendations for improvements
• Support developmental testing (HALT) as well as Qualification Testing
What We Look For:
Required
• You must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship
• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or another relevant engineering program from an accredited institution
• Minimum 5 years of experience using current computer-aided engineering tool (CAE)
• Minimum 5 years of experience using computer-aided drafting tools (CAD)
• Proven electronic packaging experience, including thermal and vibration analysis
Desired:
• Electronic enclosure design experience in the avionics or automotive industry
• Experience working with the following tools: Solidworks 2021, ANSYS 2021 R2 and Icepak R2 experience
• 5+ years of experience in a Mechanical Engineering design function
• Experience with DO-160 and MIL-STD-810 requirements
• Familiarity with avionics standards, including ARINC and RTCA
