The Opportunity
Of utmost importance is the ability to be an effective liaison between corporate functional leaders and operating company executive leadership groups to ensure transparency and accountability. The candidate should also have a proven track record of success in managing through change, especially during transition periods from outdated manual processes to modern automated processes.
- Update, maintain, and improve models and presentations for the month-end reforecast, annual Budget and long-range planning processes with interim milestones and submissions from all FHI departments, including P&L, cash flow, balance sheet, and supporting schedules/analyses, ensuring quality, timeliness, and accuracy
- Quickly develop and nurture positive working relationships with Corporate and Emerging Business department leaders and teams; partner with business segments to accurately allocate shared costs across the organization
- Execute information and analysis requests from corporate functional teams and external business partners with thorough, organized and fact-based work product supporting key observations, assumptions and conclusions
- Periodically support team members focusing on business segment forecast consolidation and metrics presentations
- Codify standard operating procedure documents, including checklists that will be used to govern processes that ensure consistent and thorough completion of recurring deliverables
- Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, controls, and automation of reporting and forecasting tasks
- Investigate and quickly resolve variances in budgets, reporting, controls, and accounting by drilling down into the general ledger and speaking directly with peers in the accounting, treasury, and tax organizations
- Incorporate new growth investments and departments into the Corporate Budget model, ensuring that data is included in a predictable, consistent and transparent manner
- Be an advocate of standardization and templatization with consistent, detailed formatting of forecasts and presentations across the organization
- Be an advocate for data automation across functional groups
- Contribute to the design and implementation of a new global finance system (planning tool) that will deliver significant improvements across the entire finance organization
- Develop business cases that clearly communicate the ROI of initiatives; provide creative insights, implications, and recommendations about current and future financial trends and areas for improvement, focus or investment
- Conduct cost-savings analysis and ensure that commercial/growth ambition is balanced with effective and rigorous cost management
- Create zero-defect models and presentations for financial updates to the Board of Directors, investor community, and executive team
- Together with the SVP/VP, embody a culture of humility and high performance while driving initiatives forward with a progressive cadence to stay ahead of the company's ambitious agenda and growth plans
Candidate Profile
- 7+ years (Sr. Manager) or 10+ years (experienced Director) of progressive finance experience in a combination of corporate FP&A and financial services roles
- Prior financial services experience, especially in investment banking, private equity, management consulting or equity research roles with significant financial modeling responsibilities and accounting exposure
- Prior experience within pre-IPO/growth-stage startup companies a plus
- CPA, CFA and/or MBA a plus; BS/BA degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field
- Experience leveraging planning and budgeting software tools such as Oracle EPBCS, Adaptive Insights, Anaplan or similar tools a strong plus
- Comfortable with ambiguity and thrives managing several projects, deadlines and stakeholders in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
- Experience incorporating acquisitions/new business launches into an organization a plus
- Enjoys manipulating and drawing insights from large data sets from disparate sources
- Transparent and effective oral and written communicator; comfortable communicating both concisely with executive audiences and in-detail with tactical audiences
- Interacts well with internal colleagues at all levels and across all business functions
- Blend of financial, strategic, analytical, and project management skills
- Highest standards of accuracy and precision with Excel financial models and Powerpoint presentations for executive audiences
- Results-oriented, gritty, resourceful, and organized team player
- Flexibility for occasional travel
- Expectation to be on premise in the New York office 4 days per week
