The Role:
We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Visual Merchandising and Operations Manager to join our team and lead the development, execution and communication of Visual Merchandising initiatives across our stores and brands. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Visual Merchandising, experience creating and communicating visual directives, a keen eye for visual aesthetics, and a proven track record of driving sales through effective merchandising strategies. This role will collaborate with merchandising and creative services to create scalable strategies and ensure optimal presentation for our brands.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning & Analysis
- Strategically own all aspects of Visual Merchandising Initiatives. This will include product placement strategy, floor map guidance and collateral ordering.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align on product strategies and priorities, that align with business objectives and trends.
- Conduct store visits and audits to evaluate the effectiveness of Visual Merchandising strategies and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Develop a photo review process to ensure compliance and provide feedback to store teams, as needed.
Visual Operations & Communication
- Lead the development and implementation of Visual Merchandising guidelines and standards to ensure consistency across stores and brands.
- Development and communication of visual guidance and directives for key seasons, product deliveries and floor sets.
- Ensure execution and compliance against product placement direction and directives.
- Develop scalable training materials for store execution (in partnership with training)
- Stay abreast of industry trends and competitor activities to inform merchandising best practices and innovation.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Be an active participant in merchandising and planning meetings to understand selling data and provide merchandising strategies based on product insights.
- Execute new store openings & renovations in partnerships with cross-functional teams.
- Partner with store designers and external creative resources for fixture optimizations, collateral design and seasonal windows.
Key competencies & attributes for success
- 3+ years Visual Merchandising experience, store planning experience, or corporate retail operations experience, preferred
- Retail experience in multi-department/multi-brand environment preferred
- Graphic design skills required: PowerPoint, and Google Slides design skills: Adobe Suite and SketchUp skills are recommended. CAD proficiency is encouraged but not mandatory.
- General knowledge of spreadsheets required.
- This role requires the ability to understand overall business and apply to projects. Basic financial acumen required. (i.e. Dollars per Square foot, sales trends, budgeting).
- Candidate must have the ability to present ideas and concepts to senior executives and outside brand partners.
- Able to understand and manage the complexity of a broad and diverse store portfolio
- Self-motivated, innovative, and able to multitask under pressure in a fast-paced environment
This role is ideally based in New York City, however we are open to the role being based in Los Angeles or Chicago.
