Position Summary:
If you love working with data and are excited about imagining what the ever-evolving health care landscape could be, this role is for you! As Senior Manager of Strategic Risk Analytics, you will drive high impact, Strategic Risk analysis for CVS Health's Corporate Strategy team, a Fortune 6 and leading health solutions company in the U.S. As a critical part of the team, you will be frequently engaging with a variety of teams to perform complex analyses in support of strategy development, implementation, and monitoring and have high visibility to senior leadership across the company.
Some of your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading or participating in moderately complex financial scenario assessments, sensitivity analysis, and Risk Analytics that contribute to large-scale planning activities.
  • Conducting health care market research to inform strategic scenarios and use business intelligence, statistical, and/or data science techniques to evaluate risk exposure.
  • Developing and working with structured data files from multiple sources, such as membership, P&L, clinical and pharmacy claims, risk adjustment, etc.
  • Partnering with Enterprise Strategy, Actuarial, Enterprise Risk Management, and Enterprise Economics to test robustness of model assumptions and projections.
  • Collaborating and consulting with Finance Technology to resolve modeling, forecasting, and production issues, and achieve analytic and reporting goals.
  • Supporting development of communication vehicles (e.g., presentation) and presenting complex analytics concepts, techniques, and results to non-technical audience.
  • Taking initiative in raising new data collection opportunities, applications of existing data, or analyses that contribute to team's strategic role in exceeding outcomes.

To be successful, you will:
  • Bring and continue to develop a solid understanding of health care business drivers across payer, care delivery, PBM, and pharmacy.
  • Use critical thinking to frame business problems, acquire relevant data points, design analytical plans, and provide actionable insights and strategic solutions.
  • Risk-assess complex problems using large data sets and communicate effectively with leadership to highlight strategic implications to CVS Health.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with all levels of organization and those with and without technical backgrounds.
  • Demonstrate ability to manage multiple tasks with competing priorities.
  • Work effectively both independently and as a team with diverse stakeholders, including business, technical and/or clinical.

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years' experience working with financial drivers of healthcare businesses, with exposure to at least one of the following business: payer, provider, PBM, pharmacy
  • 3+ years of Risk Analytics experience in the healthcare industry
  • 2+ years of experience using various statistical software and computer programming (e.g., R, Python, SQL, SAP, Oracle, etc.)
  • Strong command of financial modeling, including scenario analysis, sensitivity analysis, Monte Carlo simulation, discounted cash flow (DCF), and forecasting
  • Advanced skills in Excel
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed. Less than 10% of time.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge and experience in visualization tools (e.g., D3, Tableau)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Word
  • Actuarial background

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree with significant relevant experience.
  • Master's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Finance, Economics, or other quantitative discipline preferred.

Pay Range
The typical pay range for this role is:
$79,200.00 - $190,700.00
This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. This position also includes an award target in the company's equity award program.
