The Atlantic is looking for a strategic and skilled insights-oriented Senior Manager to help grow the organization's subscriptions business on the the Consumer Strategy and Growth (CSG) team. This role is critical in supporting the growth strategists and creative marketers of the CSG team in gathering data, conducting analysis, and helping impact growth levers positively primarily in their day-to-day endeavors but also certain longer term strategic projects.
Day-to-day, this person would assess consumer revenue performance, create reporting infrastructure at the intersection of business and marketing analytics, and look for trends, areas for improvement and areas of risk. The Senior Manager would then funnel this information to the team strategists and work closely with them on using the data to make decisions that impact experiments, risk mitigation projects, development of new growth levers. The Senior Manager will present findings to wider organizational stakeholders, and use it to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our business and its associated products in certain instances, for example, support consumer revenue forecasting work associated with product ideas.
This role is highly cross functional and will work closely with the larger data science, research, product, finance, and audience teams in pushing CSG projects along and gathering consumer revenue insights that can be used to make strategic and day-to-day tactical decisions.
Objectives of this role:

  • Conduct analysis and reporting including pulling, manipulating, and exporting data on marketing lifecycle projects.
  • Establish data and reporting requirements for business as usual and new projects from project requirements documentation to design and execution.
  • Interpret data using analytics, research methodologies, and statistical techniques and establish insights relevant to subscriptions growth and serve as liaison between staff and management by analyzing and interpreting data.
  • Improve, execute, and effectively communicate significant analyses that identify meaningful trends and opportunities across the business consumer business lines - digital subscriptions, legacy subscriptions, iOS and Apple News.
  • Assisting growth teams with experimentation data set up, implementation, and monitoring.
  • Provide timely financial and business analytics for CSG to make decisions across consumer marketing and other larger cross-functional projects in particular on a day-to-day basis.
  • Participate in meetings regularly with managers to assess issues and to identify and implement improvements. Examples: paywall insights, trials analysis, engagement rates among specific cohorts, etc.
  • Evaluate key performance indicators, provide ongoing reports, and recommend business plan updates

Qualifications and requirements:
  • 3 to 4 years of data manipulation and conducting analysis that help with business and marketing strategy
  • Experience working for a digital marketing business or vertical preferred
  • Experience working with dashboarding tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau) and pulling data and creating reports within analytics platforms (e.g. Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude) and/or martech tools (we use Sailthru, VWO, Facebook Ads, Zuora).
  • Experience with paywall management and subscription management platforms like Zephyr, Zuora, Piano a plus but not required
  • Baseline understanding of martech stacks that support experimentation, personalization, and email; experience with VWO and Sailthru a plus but not required
  • Passionate about the future of high-quality, independent journalism

Salary Minimum: $65,000; Salary Maximum: $100,000
