The Senior Manager, Connectivity serves as both an individual contributor and people manager within our Hardware Engineering group. This group operates on a global scale within the Play Engineering organization in Product Innovation and Design at the LEGO Group. The role is based in Boston, where LEGO Play Engineering is expanding our global footprint to help advance groundbreaking innovations that will redefine the future of play for the builders of tomorrow.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead an engineering team accountable for all dimensions of connectivity technology (physical through application layers) and solutions used within our products to deliver incredible play experiences.
- Champion and demonstrate industry standards for engineering, collaboration, innovation, and delivery as we together develop new play experiences at the boundary between the physical and digital worlds.
- Collaborate with internal technical staff and external partners to ensure robust connectivity solutions are delivered at excellent quality and high volume to the market.
- Demonstrate exceptional agility and systems thinking while navigating the use of some of the newest technical approaches to connecting assorted network elements.
- Lead and review technical design and development activities while collaborating with related team leaders.
- Serve as an exceptional people leader to the engineers on the Connectivity team, providing coaching and mentorship opportunities for professional growth and supportive feedback to help the globally distributed team members continue stretching to reach their fullest potential.
Do you have what it takes?
- A builder with passion for creatively using technology as a vehicle to deliver one-of-a-kind play experiences to children around the world.
- An excitement to help build and lead this new team within Hardware Engineering as we accelerate our expansion into the Boston tech community.
- 8+ years of experience in roles that involved both engineering management and individual contributions in robotics/mechatronics, microelectronics, sophisticated connected systems, or other similar domains.
- Proven success in leading connectivity solutions development as well as individual contributions of technical leadership of connected systems from idea stage to mass production in high volume markets (e.g. consumer electronics).
- Experience with key electronic component providers and manufacturing partners.
- Ability to travel roughly 20-30 days per year, as part of our globally distributed team.
New Location Update
This position will initially be based at our LEGO Education office at Boylston St, Back Bay, Boston before moving to a new central Boston office location by the end of 2025. Our hiring teams will discuss this with you during the interview stages.
