You'll be responsible for:
- Taking initiative and setting the pace of work.
- Performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled construction tasks.
- Training new employees in the fundamentals of Asphalt/Concrete work.
- Operating light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.
- Utilizing internal computer software programs.
- May be asked to lead a team.
- Observe safe work practices, ensure safe equipment operations, perform preventative maintenance, and servicing/repair of assigned tools and equipment.

Graduation from high school supplemented by training in the assigned area of specialty; two years of experience performing public works maintenance including similar experience to that of the assigned maintenance program or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of equipment operation, techniques and methods used in the area of specialization. Ability to work independently, and direct and train others engaged in the area of specialization; operate equipment used in the assigned maintenance program; read and interpret blueprints, work sketches and specialized maps; prepare work records and routine reports; understand and follow verbal and written directions; work safely and efficiently; meet the public in situations requiring diplomacy and tact; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
Special Requirements:
Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. Possession of or ability to obtain a California Commercial Motor Vehicle "Class A" Driver's License with endorsements (air brake and tanker) and a satisfactory driving record as a condition of satisfactory completion of the probationary period.
Desirables:
- Two years of experience in Asphalt/Concrete work
- Able to operate and perform routine maintenance and servicing of a variety of power-driven equipment and power tools used in construction and maintenance work.
