Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates competence in areas of critical thinking, interpersonal relationships and technical skills.
- Demonstrates ability to provide care/service safely and efficiently for the care of each patient.
- Provides effective leadership to the department: Able to strategically identify, internalize and communicate the critical success factors necessary for the department to support organizational goals.

Expresses ideas clearly and effectively (gaining agreement and/or understanding), by adjusting language, terminology and style to the characteristics and needs of the audience, as well as the venue for the communication.

- Performs routine maintenance work serving as a working supervisor in maintaining and repairing Hospital buildings and equipment.
- Maintain records of materials, services and assists crew of maintenance workers in the maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment. Examples include: plumbing, masonry, welding, carpentry, painting, electrical and grounds maintenance work.
- Works under minimal supervision with latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.
- Assigns maintenance crews and laborers to specific jobs.
- Checks work in-progress to be certain it meets standards.
- Obtains material and supplies from warehouse or requisitions items not carried in stock.
- Maintains records of materials used on jobs and in stock.
- May maintain employee time records.
- Performs related work as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required:
- High School Diploma.
- Working Supervisor: Knowledge of building maintenance; of plumbing and heating systems; of fire and safety regulations.
- Skill in the use of tools and equipment.
- Ability to interpret blueprints; to organize preventative maintenance programs; and to supervise the work of others.
- Cross-trained in building trades. Minimum 5 years journeyman's level.
- Building Trades Certificate.
Preferred:
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
- Technical/Professional Training/Degree - Construction related trades certificate
