ASML US, including its affiliates and subsidiaries, bring together the most creative minds in science and technology to develop lithography machines that are key to producing faster, cheaper, more energy-efficient microchips. Role and responsibilities
We are looking for a highly motivated, self-driven, hands-on technical individual to support our state-of-the-art Machine Learning based software products. This position will be in the Product Engineering Group (PEG) organization at ASML Silicon Valley site. The PEG team works closely with software developers, marketing, sales, operations, SQA, other PEG teams, and customers, therefore this job provides a broad exposure to whole pictures of the products. PEG engineers play a key role in shaping and directing the product growth and development.
As part of the PEG organization, the Senior Machine Learning Design Engineer is responsible for new product feature/requirement definition, advanced algorithm feasibility study, product flow integration, proof data collection, new customer engagement, and product training.
- Understand the request/feedback from customers and envision the technical trend with the marketing team.
- Define the details of new product features and improvements in each release.
- Test and qualify the new features and improvements in each release, providing the proof book, documentation, and training materials.
- Apply state of the art Machine Learning models and data science techniques into real internal/customer cases and improve performance w.r.t. existing solutions.
- Engage in a new customer benchmark/evaluation, and provide the best solution with the field team.
- Support existing customers as a second-line engineer to field engineers to resolve customer issues.
Education and experience
Ph.D. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, or related areas.
- Minimal 2-3 years of research or hands-on development experience in Machine Learning, data science, or related areas
- Deep understanding and hands-on experience in mainstream Machine Learning models (e.g., logistic regression, trees, CNN, GAN, etc.)
- Hands-on experience in image processing is a plus
- Experience in optimization/numerical simulation/mathematical modeling is a great plus
- Any knowledge in lithography, IC design and metrology is a good plus.
Skills
- Strong problem analysis/solving and innovative thinking skills.
- Independent deep-dive and trouble-shooting on challenging problems.
- Ability to work independently and also effectively as a member of a team.
- Intermediate/advanced software programming skills in one of following: Python, C/C++.
- Quick learner and flexibility are key attributes, good sense in priority handling and multiple task.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The current base annual salary range for this role is currently $141,750-$236,250. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members.
