Veres Career Consulting is searching for a highly experienced underwriting leader to be the Chief Underwriting Officer of a newly-formed MGA.
This is more than just a job. It’s an opportunity for someone who is just as much an entrepreneur as they are an underwriting expert. You’ll be leading a team as you create something new in the industry, make a serious impact, and get handsomely rewarded for it.
As second-in-command of this MGA, you’ll need to be an expert with over 10 years of underwriting experience within a niche market such as cyber, cannabis, or liability. This deep level of expertise will be essential as you help build this new business from the ground up, ensuring not only the technical correctness of your underwriting but the profitability of your business plan.
As CUO you’ll be working closely with the CEO to establish an underwriting strategy & build profitable business plans. You’ll be leading a team of underwriters and analysts, working directly with clients and brokers, and being closely involved in operations.
What’s Required?
Other than the general ability to build something from the ground up and bring it to market:
- 10+ years of insurance underwriting experience, preferably in a niche market, in the US or Canada.
- Strong history of generating profits through underwriting, combining your analytic, operational, interpersonal, and management skills.
- Existing high-quality broker relationships and the ability to leverage these relationships as a senior manager.
What Are Your Responsibilities?
As second-in-command to the CEO, you’ll be responsible for all aspects of the business pertaining to underwriting.
- Building and executing a profitable underwriting strategy while developing new underwriting systems.
- Manage the company’s risk exposure as it pertains to new applications.
- Negotiate with clients and brokers to develop business.
- Manage & develop junior staff members.
