The Senior Legal Counsel, Intellectual Property, is a key role on HSBC’s Global Intellectual Property team, based in our New York City office. In this role, you will help HSBC navigate all aspects of intellectual property law and will closely advise our stakeholders on intellectual property strategy. You will be responsible for advising on all types of intellectual property rights—including patents, trademarks, copyright, and trade secrets—in every context, be it portfolio management, enforcement and contentious matters or transactions.
Here’s what you can expect:
As our Senior Legal Counsel, Intellectual Property, you will play a crucial role in guiding our stakeholders on all intellectual property matters. This includes providing strategic advice to support our businesses and supporting functions as they develop new concepts, products, and services. You will collaborate closely with developers and innovators, business lawyers and other legal colleagues to navigate third-party IP risks. Your responsibilities will also involve supporting the bank’s patent and trademark portfolios, offering specialized IP advice during strategic commercial and M&A transactions, and taking proactive measures in IP enforcement against infringers as well as planning the bank’s defensive approach, covering patents, trademarks, and copyright. Your role will also entail managing our relationships with external legal counsel to ensure efficient support of our team.
For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $191,700 and $287,600.
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.
