**This is a remote part-time opportunity**
This position will work on the JETS International Space Station (ISS) Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) Team providing part-time consulting support of ISS GN&C systems. The selected applicant will:
- Work with the team to provide necessary GN&C software tool support
- Identify and recommend solutions to ISS GN&C related issues
- Communicate status to ISS program management
- Maintain relationships with a diverse technical team
- Perform other duties as required

Requisition Qualifications:

- Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and may be expected to have a related master's degree and normally possess 10-15 years of related experience
- Experience with orbital mechanics and GN&C principles
- Experience with ISS GNC FSW and ISS Russian GNC FSW
- Proficiency in the high-fidelity non-linear time-domain rigid-body simulation tool (SSMRBS)
- Proficiency in the flex-body simulation tool (SOMBAT)
- Experience with CMG Momentum Manager (MM), Attitude Hold (AH) and USTO controller expertise
- Knowledge in the development of GN&C algorithms and analyzing system performance for spacecraft
- Experience with design, verification, testing, and operation of GN&C hardware and software
- Experience with the development of space system requirements and documents
- Experience applying systems engineering principles to space vehicles
- Strong interpersonal skills to enable successful performance on a collaborative engineering team
- Ability to organize/prioritize tasks in order to meet deadlines and schedules with limited supervision
- Ability to prepare written documents and to verbally present at meetings
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work in a team environment consisting of NASA civil servants and contractor employees
- Experience with Microsoft Office products
Requisition Preferences:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited engineering school with thirty (30+) years of related GN&C engineering experience.
- Working knowledge of NASA, JSC, and ISS standard practices and requirements, including safety and fault tolerance
- Familiarity with NASA/JSC documentation databases and SharePoint sites
- Experience with LINUX, Python, and C/C++
- Experience with MATLAB and Simulink toolboxes

Work Environment
Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.
Physical Requirements
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).
Equipment and Machines
Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
Attendance
Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
