The Senior Accountant supports the monthly close process, analyzes and reconciles GL accounts, and participates in assigned audit responsibilities. The Senior Accountant position requires top-notch analytical skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, able to support month, quarter and year-end close responsibilities in a timely fashion. All work performed by the Senior Accountant will support compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) including audit ready schedules with IPE.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Month-end close including (but not limited to) inventory accounts, ensuring reconciliation of perpetual to GL.
- Maintaining standard costs for inventory parts (labor, burden, OH and rolling of routers and product structures)
- Completing WO review/accounting close, analyzing variances, understanding inventory activities
- Analyzing and recording amortization of capitalized PPV/manufacturing variances
- Recording monthly allocation entries
- Analysis and roll forward of E&O reserves, including working with Ops Management and Accounting Management to identify potential losses
- Understanding the related nature of revenue and COGS transactions and reconciling the activity to support proper recording in the GL and providing the support for reported sales units
- Closing the manufacturing and manufacturing support cost centers each month including proper accruals
- Preparing the quarterly inventory board slides for the audit committee meeting
- Providing footnote support information as needed for SEC reporting
- Participating in the annual physical inventory for finance, including selecting and directing internal team auditing the counts
- Completing miscellaneous account analyses as requested
- Documenting procedures and streamlining transaction processing to improve efficiencies
- Completion of monthly balance sheet reconciliations as assigned
- Supporting annual external audit and tax analysis as assigned
- Other duties as assigned, including backup support for other personnel
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Advanced MS Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, etc.)
- Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute average, ratios, percent.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Must have good phone skills and interact well with others.
- Must always present themselves professionally.
- Requires minimal supervision.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance; minimum 8 years’ Accounting experience, 2-4 in public accounting
- Must be flexible and adaptable to change.
- Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize multiple projects under tight deadlines and work independently
- Ability to work professionally with all levels of management.
