Overview

The Senior Internal Auditor is a pivotal role within Katapult, designed for a skilled professional who brings a comprehensive understanding of processes and controls, along with experience in related information systems, policies, and procedures. Reporting to the new but seasoned, Vice President of Internal Audit (VP, IA), this individual will be tasked with planning and executing a variety of audits, including financial, operational, compliance, and information systems audits, employing a risk-based methodology that aligns with internal and external standards such as ICFR (SOX). The role requires close coordination with external auditors, management, and possibly a co-sourcing audit firm, to ensure comprehensive audit coverage.


The successful candidate will also support the VP, Internal Audit in the development and execution of the annual audit plan while also contributing to the design and implementation of audit programs and procedures. This role demands not only technical auditing skills but also the ability to assess and enhance the efficiency of processes, identify cost reduction opportunities, and effectively communicate audit findings to management.


What You’ll Do

  • Develop a solid understanding of the Company’s financial, operational, and compliance processes and controls and related information systems; policies and procedures; and applicable laws, rules, and regulations
  • Plan and execute financial, operational, compliance, and information systems audits including ICFR (SOX) audits using a risk-based methodology
  • Coordinate audits with external auditors and management (and a co-sourcing audit firm, if applicable)
  • Assist VP IA with the development of the annual internal audit plan, schedule, and budgets (financial and hours)
  • Assist VP IA with the development and implementation of audit programs and procedures and sampling methodologies
  • Perform interviews and walkthroughs; document processes and related controls through flowcharts and narratives
  • Assess the design and effectiveness of internal controls by performing audit procedures and make appropriate recommendations for remediation of any identified control deficiencies
  • Assess the efficiency of processes, identify opportunities, and make recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce costs
  • Prepare reports and presentations to communicate the results of audit and advisory projects to management
  • Participate in risk assessments and the development and ongoing monitoring of enterprise risk management (ERM), fraud risk management, and third-party risk management, business continuity, and disaster recovery programs
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and professional ethics, and lead by example in following the company’s code of business conduct and ethics, policies and procedures, and applicable laws, rules, and regulations
  • Represent IA on cross-functional project teams
  • All other assignments and special projects as necessary

Experience & Skills We’re Looking for

  • Bachelor degree in business with a major in accounting required
  • Dual degree with information systems preferred
  • Minimum of 2 years of auditing experience required (preferably with a Big 4 firm)
  • MAcc or MBA preferred
  • CPA or CIA preferred
  • Knowledge of ICFR (SOX), COSO Framework, IIA IPPF, PCAOB AS 2201, US GAAP, and SEC reporting requirements preferred
  • Self-motivated, proactive, works independently, utilizes critical thinking and analytical skills to solve problems and deliver solutions
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally to achieve shared objectives; considers the interest of others; proactively assists others; steps in and helps when and as needed
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage multiple assignments, able to adapt to changing priorities and schedules
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills for presenting information and ideas and responding to questions; able to write reports and develop presentations that provide meaningful information with insightful commentary and analysis
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Demonstrates sound judgment by making effective decisions and being able to support decisions with facts and details
  • Establishes and maintains effective professional relationships
