Our Platform and Systems Engineering Group is seeking Group is seeking an experienced Hardware Design Engineer to join our team in Boston, with strong background in three or more of the following areas: analog/digital/mixed signal circuits, PCB design, RF/high speed design, signal processing, test automation, FPGA and Embedded. Our team works cross-functionally to advance applications in areas including biotech, energy, autonomous systems, and many more intelligent edge systems. You will work as a technical lead and engage with customers and partners to bring the outside in, advancing our state of the art.
What you will do:
- Full life cycle system design and ownership including collecting requirements, schematic design, component selection, supervision or completion of layout, bring-up, test, debug and system integration.
- Design/review multilayer printed circuit boards paying attention to high-speed effects, signal flow, and proper design rule adherence.
- Design for test (DFT) definition & development to improve testability, quality and reduce cost.
- Perform research and analysis on the best design techniques for specific measurement challenges. Develop recommendations for system improvements, modifications, and upgrades.
- Own and oversee hardware and system bring up, development of test plan and protocols, debug, evaluation, and validation in a lab environment.
- Act as a technical lead for cross-functional teams, and also as a confident peer influencer and mentor
Qualifications:
- BSEE with 6-10+ years or MSEE with 4-6+ years of relevant experience or equivalent combination.
- Demonstrated ability and/or experience leading full Signal Chain design in a cross-functional setting.
- Mixed Signal Chain design using precision and high-speed data converters, analog circuitry and simulation, component selection.
- Proficient in the lab working with equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, logic analyzers, signal generators, automated test instrumentation using a platform such as NI PXI or similar.
- Experience with developing robust test plans and designing automated test fixtures and test sequencing using Python scripting or equivalent.
- Familiar with design for power and signal integrity with mixed signal hardware including digital interfaces.
- Effective communication, judgement, and teamwork skills are essential.
- Capable of adapting to the changing needs of a research environment.
- Enjoy tinkering, taking things apart and making things work.
What experience is preferred:
- RF and/or high-speed digital circuit design experience.
- Mechanical design for electronics enclosures, heat sinking and proper cooling.
- Experience designing and debugging power electronics
- Experience with simulation tools such as Matlab/Simulink, LTSpice or similar.
