Job description

We're seeking a talented and innovative senior level designer to join our growing, award-winning creative team. This is a creative role for someone with strong design skills, a collaborative spirit, and a digital-first mentality. We are looking for a senior level artist who is equally passionate about creating high-quality designs and helping to run a strong production engine. You will play a critical role as a brand ambassador, both internally and externally. Under direction of the creative director and in collaboration with the communications, operations and digital team leads, this role intakes and manages all design projects and cultivates the growth and quality of our network of freelance Graphic Designers and motion graphics artists.

  • Deeply understand, embrace, interpret, apply, and direct others in the creative use of the brand
  • Work from briefs as well as partner with strategy leads and cross-functional teams to create and conceptualize a variety of project deliverables across digital and print including but not limited to: print collateral, websites and apps, social media, PowerPoint presentations, data visualizations, storyboards, video, signage and more
  • Collaborate with operations team to vet and assign all design requests, provide accurate estimates for timing and effort, and manage time to deliver projects punctually and within budget and expectations
  • Effectively communicate the vision, value, and status of projects and articulate when issues arise
  • Own assigned design and production from initial concept creation to final sign-off; manage workflow and oversee brand consistency and quality of work assigned to self and freelance designers
  • Ensure all designers build files to specification using best practice and keep projects and files organized according to team standards
  • Gain and maintain fluency with continual learning in applicable marketing technology, tools and trends; Seek, learn and test new digital publishing platforms and technology as needed
  • Collaborate and build trust with team members of varying skillsets. Demonstrate empathy, communicate effectively and clearly with individuals who may be unfamiliar with design formats and terminology
  • Collaborate within the marketing team to integrate feedback loops, quantitative, and qualitative data to help inform design and workflow decisions
  • Ensure clean handoff and closure of all freelance design and video projects, including source file transfer and invoicing
  • Document processes and standards for creative processes as they evolve over time

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Graphic Design or related field
  • 2-10+ years of experience in design in marketing and corporate environments with knowledge of high-level creative strategies and brand management
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating high level expertise in design principles including typography, composition, hierarchy, iconography, imagery, movement, UX/UI and color theory
  • Excellent visual, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Solid understanding of creative operations and asset governance best practices
  • Agency experience and/or role in larger team operations required
  • Demonstrated experience in using various digital communication tools (task management systems, cloud storage, chat, etc.) to collaborate with teams across offices and time zones.
  • Mastery of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe XD and familiarity of other Adobe products such as After Effects and Premiere
  • Expert ability in applying designs to Microsoft Word and PowerPoint templates and documents.
  • Experience in UI layout in digital platforms (such as email and landing pages); strong understanding of UX/UI design and digital-first mentality
  • Solid understanding of the latest prepress, offset and digital printing techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Aprimo or other tagging-based digital asset management tools
  • Experience with storyboarding and video editing in Adobe Premiere, AfterEffects, and/or Canva a major plus.
  • Functional knowledge of HTML, CSS, CMS and email editors.
  • Photography and audio/visual skills a plus
  • Experience designing event and large-format signage
