Department Overview
Gas Operations is focused on ensuring the safe and reliable flow of natural gas to our customers and responsible for all aspects of PG&E’s gas distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, restoration and emergency response. LNG/CNG Engineering and Operations department specifically is responsible for areas related to portable natural gas and natural gas vehicle fueling stations as the asset owner for 32 natural gas vehicle stations throughout the service territory and various sized liquified natural gas (LNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) portable assets to support planned and unplanned gas outage. In addition, LNG/CNG E&O owns LNG/CNG portable assets, mobile CNG stations, cross compressors, generators, odorizers, and flares used to support planned and unplanned projects in Gas Operations.
Position Summary
Provide engineering, technical support, equipment design, and project management for LNG/CNG assets including CNG stations, natural gas generators, and mobile compressors. Identifies and supports high priority work to reduce risks, improves processes and supports their implementation, improves equipment performance and reliability, performs condition assessments, troubleshoots, and resolves equipment problems. Serves as liaison between PG&E project teams and LNG/CNG team to provide operational support which can include but not limited to pipeline cross compression, reservoir cross compression, mobile CNG compression, flaring, load generation, and odorization.
Location is flexible within the PG&E Service Territory, please note hiring leader will make final decision of what are appropriate headquarters for the role based on business need.
Position will require up to approximately 40% of travel time in work schedule.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory.
This position is a DOT (Department of Transportation) covered classification and is subject to random drug and/or alcohol screening.
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum:$128,000
Bay Area Maximum:$218,000
&/OR
California Minimum:$122,000
California Maximum: $207,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Job Responsibilities
- Solves complex problems by developing and utilizing new and innovative engineering design and technical solutions
- Leads or supports teams from multiple organizations and/or vendors for system including but not limited to programmatic or complex repairs, investigations, or implementation of assigned program work for service territory.
- Leads or supports process improvement initiatives for assigned program management and monitors performance of equipment or work. Oversees or supports process and procedure development, implementation, communications, and training for new programs or changes to existing programs.
- Expands knowledge in other areas of specialty or discipline, developing breadth or further develops expertise and specialization on one area
- Evaluates methodologies, best practices, tools, processes, procedures, and technology assessing potential fit, benefits, and impacts for assigned workstreams
- Presents engineering research, findings solutions and recommendations to supervisors
- Provides training, guidance, instruction and coaching to other Engineers
- Interprets and applies applicable codes and regulations, policies and procedures
- Applies knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices in a specific discipline, field or area of expertise to resolve complex problems
- Completes assignments of broad scope and complexity with few precedents or standards and assignments that require integration of information from a variety of sources
- Takes ownership of problems and their solutions
Qualifications-
Minimum:
- BS Engineering
- Five (5) years of relevant experience
- May be required to have a valid California driver's license on day one of employment
Desired:
- Extensive knowledge of 49 CFR 192 specifically for transmission pipelines
- Experience in PLC programming/electrical controls
- Experience in gas compression
- Experience in natural gas specifically high pressure systems
- PE-(Professional Engineer) License
