Senior Full Stack Developer Overview

As a Senior Full Stack Developer for Top Echelon, you will assist in creating innovative user-facing features that help our customers hire top talent. As part of a cross-functional software development team, this role primarily involves helping deliver our flagship product - an Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud-based Applicant Tracking & Recruiting SaaS application with an emphasis on high availability, performance, and security. The ideal candidate will have broad web development and microservice experience. You will be working closely with product owners, product designers, and other developers, helping with product development and continuous technological evolution and innovation!

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Work with design and development teams to build features that solve customers' problems.
  • Participate in definition and clarification of business and product requirements and determine the technical feasibility of potential solutions.
  • Design and implement robust, scalable, and secure web-based solutions to business requirements.
  • Mentor and lead developers by cultivating curiosity and deep technical understanding.
  • Communicate progress, issues and risks in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with other team members on projects that implement a variety of technologies.
  • Lead the improvement of our software development processes and practices.
  • Conduct code reviews.
  • Protect the confidentiality of sensitive and/or proprietary company and customer information.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest and emerging technologies.

Our Ideal Candidate Has:

  • A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical major, or related experience.
  • 5+ years developer experience.
  • Demonstrated ability and interest in coaching and mentoring other engineers.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills with the ability to demonstrate your past experience in leading a team.
  • A strong understanding of the software development process.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • A reputation for being a logical thinker, being persistent, and wanting to figure out hard problems.
  • Proven experience building secure, scalable, and performant web applications with Ruby on Rails, Javascript/Typescript, or PHP. Proficiency in Ruby on Rails specifically is desirable.
  • Experience with javascript frameworks such as Node.js, Angular, or React. Proficiency in Angular specifically is desirable.
  • Knowledge of application design patterns and object-oriented design and a desire to write clean, readable, maintainable code.
  • A solid understanding of building and working with REST APIs.
  • A fundamental understanding of automated software testing in general and Unit Testing specifically.
  • Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL and how ORMs interact with them.
  • Experience in a wide range of AWS services or any other Cloud technology experience at scale.
  • Experience with Service Oriented Architecture and Microservices.
  • An understanding of the deployment and continuous integration process.
  • The ability to adapt to changing requirements and business processes.
