Position Overview
The Senior FP&A Analyst is responsible for supporting the SubCom monthly P&L and cash flow forecast and annual budgeting processes. This role will work closely with other members in Finance including Accounting and FP&A to deliver financial forecasts and analyses to SubCom Management team. The role will interact with multiple levels in the organization across the business units and will communicate regularly with senior management. The analyst will have a significant impact on the forecasting process and monitoring of key performance measures, including improving the accuracy and integrity of the forecast process and applying LEAN tools. This position reports to the FP&A Manager.
Responsibilities
  • Support monthly financial forecast process. Coordinate the delivery of P&L and Cash Flow forecast inputs from business units, consolidate SubCom financial forecasts, and conduct variance analysis to identify major drivers of financial impacts.
  • Proactively identify and communicate potential risks & opportunities.
  • Present monthly cash flow forecast to FP&A manager and understand variances.
  • Provide support in the review and approval of capital expenditure spending for SubCom, Marine and Manufacturing
  • Support the preparation and delivery of the presentation deck for SubCom Management's Monthly Business Review and Board of Directors meetings.
  • Support annual budgeting process. Collect budget inputs from business units and consolidate P&L and Cash Flow budget. Support the preparation of the budget review deck.
  • Manage existing financial forecast system (Oracle, Enterprise Budgeting and Spreadsheet Server); collaborate with IT and external consultant to build and maintain the new financial forecast tools.
  • Support FP&A Manager on ad hoc projects, including decision support analysis.
  • Participate in Finance team's "LEAN Initiative" by identifying opportunities of gaining efficiency and improving quality in daily work.
  • Partner with management team to establish meaningful and trackable metrics and establish ongoing benchmarks to ensure metrics are achieved.
  • Manages daily tasks and responsibilities of FP&A team ensuring all departmental goals and objectives are completed effectively and efficiently.
  • Leads and coaches the team structuring appropriate training and development and eliminating roadblocks to team performance.
  • Ensures a fun, dynamic work environment & build merit-based culture which appeals to the top talent in the field.

  • Focuses on creating sustainable efficiencies and productivity across the team.
  • Identifies gaps in processes and/or services and recommends changes.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 3-6 years of experience in progressive financial and accounting analytical positions required.
  • Must have experience and detailed understanding of how to forecast for P&L, Balance Sheet and forecast. Project accounting and/or manufacturing accounting experience a plus.
  • Ability and desire to solve problems, built on a foundation of strong quantitative and financial modeling skills.
  • Drive development of insightful analysis, and articulate recommendations in a clear and concise manner -
  • Must take initiative, be assertive and be willing to develop and mentor others.
  • Highly skilled Excel and PowerPoint user with forecasting tool experience. Oracle, Access, or other data warehouse experience a plus
  • Must be accountable and display a sense of ownership and integrity around own reporting and analysis.
  • Must understand the business and apply knowledge to the forecasting & budgeting processes
  • Must be aware of situations or changes in the business and reflect in the forecast / Risk & Opportunities schedule before variances occur.
