The Senior Financial Database Specialist must be able to work independently to produce financial and database documentation, communicate effectively (in both oral and written form) with end business users, create ad-hoc reports and database tables, create dash boards for tracking purposes, and automate complex financial and/or data reports. This position requires working knowledge of finance/accounting concepts.
1. Develop and maintain Financial Database tables for regular report requests and reference data.
2. Develop ad-hoc report using programming logic based on business requirements in order to extract healthcare and membership data for financial reporting purposes.
3. Create critical reference table(s) for Finance department analysts to use.
4. Lead data projects from development phase to final report output.
5. Pull and manipulate data requests for ad hoc analysis as required by analysts within the team(s).
6. Mentor/train accountants/analyst on how to use and pull data from the SQL database.
7. Competencies:
a. Oracle database, SQL, PL/SQL Oracle utilities (professional skill level)
b. MS SQL Server, ANSI SQL, SSMS / SSIS and TSQL (professional skill level)
c. Microsoft Excel (intermediate level) and Access (intermediate level)
8. Must be able to create, up-date, and modify existing tables from scratch based on business requirements.
9. Must be able to write queries and stored procedures in SQL Server efficiently in order to meet reporting requirements (i.e.: actuarial studies of healthcare data, reporting to regulatory agencies, and/or internal reporting of healthcare costs). In addition, automate as many standard financial reports as possible.
10. Must be able to perform QA testing and data validation of output to ensure that the results are fit for business needs. The requirements include developing and writing queries to verify the accuracy of the data output.
11. Must have strong healthcare business knowledge in order to translate business needs into technical programming logic.
The following experience may be concurrent, preferably in a health care setting.:
Four plus (4+) years of experience in database development, including analysis and design, using Microsoft Access or similar PC based relational database application.
A minimum of two (2) years in database administration and development, using Microsoft SQL Server or similar relational database application. Over three (3) years of programming experience with Structured Query Language. Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Accounting, Public or Business Administration, or Healthcare from an accredited institution required.
In lieu of the required degree, a minimum of four (4) years of additional relevant work experience is required for this position. This experience is in addition to the minimum years listed in the Experience Requirements above.
Must possess experience, knowledge and understanding of database development, lifecycle management, tools, and cross-functional activities. Techniques of relational database analysis, design, and implementation, including database management techniques, principles and practices of project control, physical and logical security techniques.
Ability to estimate database development tasks given a set of requirements and assumptions.

Position is eligible for telecommuting/remote work location upon completing the necessary steps and receiving HR approval. All IEHP positions approved for telecommute or hybrid work locations may periodically be required to report to IEHP’s main campus for mandatory in-person meetings or for other business needs as determined by IEHP leadership.
A reasonable salary expectation is between $91,000.00 and $116,022.40, based upon experience and internal equity.
