Summary

The Senior Financial Analyst (SFA) will be a key player on the finance team, reporting to the Director of Accounting. The SFA will routinely interface with staff in both Management and Village operations. The primary responsibility for the SFA is to drive for excellence in the planning, budgeting, and reporting activities across the agency.


Essential Functions

  • Lead the monthly financial forecasting and annual budgeting processes. Ensure monthly forecasts are completed on time. Drive annual budgeting with the appropriate amount of analysis and detail to explain variances and strategic direction.
  • Develop and prepare key financial reporting schedules for management monthly.
  • Take a lead on partnering with revenue generating teams to understand the trend of business; identify and explain KPIs and drivers of business and put in financial models to measure risk and opportunities.
  • In charge of the capital expenditure financial planning. Work closely with the Capital Expenditure Committee on tracking projects and maintain forecast projections for Cash Flow needs.
  • Provide budget support for new grants by analyzing historical trends and non-grant expense projections.
  • Collaborate with CFO and Grants Accounting team on setting up grant standards.
  • Develop KPIs at the department level, measuring financial alignment to budgets and grant funds utilization.
  • Lead the Accounting and Finance Department with system improvements, provide guidance and propose new technologies to improve operational and reporting efficiencies.
  • Interpret and synthesize data to make business recommendations to management.
  • Work with accounting team on month-end closing to review the actuals and identify variances to LY and budget.
  • Provide quantitative and qualitative analysis of monthly financial results for in-depth variance analysis. Report, resolve, and reconcile discrepancies.
  • Prepare various ad-hoc comparative reports as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field. MBA / MA in Finance, Accounting, or Business preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and modeling, KPIs, etc. Experience in non-profits preferred.
  • Advance user of MS Office and knowledge of computerized accounting, preferably with NetSuite or other multi-mode accounting software.
  • Create written documentation that is legible, clear, and concise.
  • Detail oriented and highly organized

  • Strong knowledge of financial statements.
  • Ability to interpret and synthesize data to make recommendations to the business.
  • Educate and instruct others regarding the budgetary information and budgetary requirements. Ability to articulate financial concepts to non-financial business partners in an easily understandable way.
  • Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Speaks well and in an organized manner when making budget presentations.
  • Resourcefulness, initiative, and the ability to work with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Utilizes logical problem-solving techniques both independently and in collaboration with workers in dealing with program needs.
  • Participate in an annual Tuberculosis screening and/or other screenings when necessary.
