Job description

Senior Financial Analyst

Responsible for engineering and operational program and project tracking, reporting, and financial analysis to provide management with a clear and concise view of business and product line performance.  Work with management, project engineers, program manager's, buyers, MP&L and other functional areas to articulate project costing and ensure all projects are being treated appropriately while meeting GOS and accounting standards. Specific areas of responsibility include analysis and interpretation of complex global engineering projects (intangible assets, multi-year development projects, etc), month-end close including journal entry preparation and review, ERP system project setup and maintenance, preparation of financial and management reports, and multiple entity reconciliations and presentation of results to management.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree required in Finance or Accounting and 5+ years of experience.  Experience in the automotive or manufacturing industries preferred.
  • Strong financial and business acumen and sound comprehension of financial and accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent MS Office skills, specifically MS Excel (Pivot tables, Vlookups) and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of BOM and engineering related accounting is desirable.
  • Knowledge of IFS, OneStream and Campfire is desirable.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for assessing and understanding Program and Project financials for engineering and operational business segments, as well as Product Lines within the McLaren Engineering legal entity, while interpreting various contracts to determine correct accounting treatment (revenue recognition, intangible asset or expensed projects).
  • Perform monthly journal entries, account reconciliations and day to day accounting for McLaren, Linamar Nevada Holdings, Inc and Linamar USA entities.
  • Prepare monthly financial reporting and variance analysis with concise explanations for senior management.
  • Ability to comprehend unique legal documents including PO's, MOU, LOI, Bank Guarantees, General Security Agreements, and other related documents.
  • Support and lead the monthly forecast and annual budget processes.
  • Lead continuous improvements audit efforts related to past audits and self assessments, support year-end audits requirements, and lead new audits that arise.
  • Support or lead weekly engineering/admin timekeeping process, and reconcile LINUS data to ERP.  Report hours by project and provide variance analysis to budget and forecasted projects. 
  • Review and analyze numerous program perpetual inventory requests to ensure correct ERP setup and to properly compare inventory values versus remaining open billable customer PO amounts.
  • Support or lead CapEx creation/dispositions and assure monthly subledger accuracy
  • Assist in accounting projects such as process redesign and simplification, and utilization of new tools to drive BMS innovation and improvements resulting in improved standardized processes. 
  • Responsible for developing clear and concise desk procedures, cross training with other accounting team members to build redundancy, play active role in the semi-annual 4-wall inventory counts.

  • Proactive ability to navigate ERP's quickly and efficiently, mine data and support Accounting Manager and Accounting Supervisor in numerous ad-hoc requests.
