Working under general supervision and directly with clients, performs a variety of complex tasks to collect, analyze, and report statutory and GAAP financial statements.
- Assists in preparation of accurate financial statements in accordance with the close schedule
- Prepares monthly journal entries and adjusting entries
- Maintains and reconciles balance sheet and income accounts to the general ledger
- Maintains various spreadsheets to support financial transactions and analysis
- Performs peer reviews and analyzes a broad range of complex accounting and fiscal activities
- Reviews inter-company transactions and generates consolidating entries
- Analyzes general ledger account activity, journal entries, accruals, variances to forecast, account reconciliations, and fixed asset administration
- Assists external auditors as needed
- Ensures compliance with regulatory reporting requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field
- 5+ years of work experience in accounting or financial roles
- Work experience with statutory accounting in the property & casualty insurance industry preferred
- Proficiency with accounting software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Access
- Develops annual budget assumptions and templates, as well as coordinating completion of the templates with the Company’s business unit leadership.
- Identifies financial trends and provides recommendations for improvement.
