Senior Finance Analyst - North American Supply Chain Accounting

 

OVERVIEW: 

 

The Global Accounting Organization (GAO) is on a journey to maximize the value we bring to the organization by proactively partnering with technical expertise while driving standard, efficient, global processes. 

 

As a Senior Financial Analyst in the North America Supply Chain Accounting team you’ll work with the GAO, FSS, Operations, and Finance organizations to drive process excellence and maintain accurate external financial statements in compliance with US GAAP requirements.  In this role you will be responsible for leading accounting and technical guidance to the GMI external and internal logistics and warehouse networks, evaluating business finance transactions against changing accounting and regulatory rules, supporting our Supply Chain financial reporting processes, providing direction to execution teams in shared services centers, as well as supporting a variety of strategic projects across the GAO and Supply Chain.

 

This role is uniquely positioned to gain both technical accounting skills and a perspective on the processes and decisions supporting General Mills’ complex Supply Chain.  Enablers for success in this role include the ability to work proactively, a high attention to detail, ability to partner with multiple functions, and a commitment to process and process improvement. Key capabilities and experiences gained include Governance, Process Excellence, Execute Control Activities, Manage External Partner Relationships, and Partnership for Impact.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: 

 

Business Partnership

  • Own accounting expertise and business partnership across the North America logistics and warehouse networks.
  • Collaborate across functions to drive process excellence, the accuracy of financial results, and development of accounting and controls capabilities throughout the organization.
  • Build functional excellence across the logistics and warehouse networks by ensuring balance between GAO strategy and business needs.  Serve as point of contact between the business and the teams executing day to day financial and inventory transactions.
  • Represent GAO in projects across Supply Chain and global accounting to create new tools, design processes to support new strategies, and provide clarity about results.
  • Partner with internal and external business partners to improve accuracy of financial records and efficiency and effectiveness of controls.

Accounting Functional Excellence

  • Follow and comply with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and current financial legislation for financial statements.
  • Maintain and oversee accounting procedures, controls, and processes.  Develop sustainable solutions for all identified control gaps and ensure they are implemented in a manner consistent with global standard process. Create tools and training to proactively drive efficiency and proper accounting treatment.
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close, and ensure the timely reporting of all financial information.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • 3+ years’ experience in  Accounting and Controls
  • Ability to build trusting relationships
  • Ability to effectively communicate and influence across the organization (Partner for Impact)

  • Strong process/project leadership (Process Excellence)

  • High level of efficiency and accuracy and ability to analyze large amounts of data

  • Strong ERP knowledge

  • English proficiency required 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) license preferred
  • SAP experience preferred
  • Supply Chain accounting experience preferred

ADDITIONAL CONSIDERATIONS: 

  • Minneapolis is the preferred location, however; we are open to 100% remote candidates with travel based on business needs. 
  • International relocation or international remote working arrangements (outside of the US) will not be considered.

Salary Range


The salary range for this position is $77900.00 - $117000.00 / Annually. At General Mills we strive for each employee's pay at any point in their career to reflect their experiences performance and skills for their current role. The salary range for this role represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, educations, skills, work experience, certifications, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
