Senior Experience Design Manager

The Senior Manager for User Experience Design is accountable for leading a team of UX product designers who are charged in defining the product design efforts and solving complex system challenges across the Print SMB and Enterprise Portfolio. He/she leads the UX team in aiding in defining and implementing the ideal end-user experience and interface across multiple form factors covering both hardware and digital solutions for our consumers and partners, facing initiatives whether incremental or revolutionary in nature. This position calls for a collaborative spirit with the ability to strategize and supervise creative and innovative solutions
Acts as a key advisor to senior management on the development of overall policies and long-term goals of the organization. Plans, manages and monitors high-end operational/tactical activities of Staff. Staff members' primary focus is on either high-end tactical or broad strategic issues or a combination of both. Recruits and supports development of direct staff members.
Directs and controls activities within a sub-region or Region.
Responsibilities:

  • Combine a deep innate passion for solving big customer problems, with an innovative and entrepreneurial mindset, and a strong focus on building and scaling new approaches and ways of operating
  • Be a key leader and champion of user experience for the User Centered Design team and with other internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Lead and/or support teams of user researchers and designers (vendor and/or internal) through product implementation (user research, concept design/testing, business design and execution)
  • Lead executive/senior stakeholder engagement, communications and buy-in for discovery efforts and/or new business/solution concepts
  • Help establish, define, maintain, and evolve the discipline of User-Centered Design by defining standards, guidelines, best practices, and processes for interacting with cross functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Enable the creation of plans and processes that align the people, culture, communications, and output needed to implement best possible service experience.
  • Works with UX resources to ensure their participation during product discussions, address any concerns/challenges that would affect their performance and growth.
  • Identifies, mentors, nurtures, and develops UX talent to empower the team to stay informed of changes in the industry, constantly learning and growing as individuals.
  • Manages headcount, deliverables, schedules, and costs for multiple ongoing projects and programs, ensuring that resources are appropriately allocated and that goals, objectives, timelines, and budgets are met in accordance with program and organizational roadmaps. And look for opportunities to translate top-class user experience into ROI.
  • Engages with program managers, marketing, supply chain, technical leaders and executives to communicate program status, escalate issues, and guide and influence strategic decision-making.
  • Provides overall people-care management for direct reports, including hiring, setting and monitoring of annual performance plans, coaching, and career development; drives and fosters organization-wide performance standards, expectations, and practices to support ongoing team member and process development, improvement and cost reductions opportunities

Education and Experience Required:
  • First level university, Bachelor's, or Master's degree in Business, Design, Innovation, Human Factors Engineering, Social Sciences research, or equivalent experience required.
  • Typically 10 or more years of related work experience, including 5 or more years of people management experience.

Knowledge and Skills:
  • Proven experiences in delivering and commercializing both Hardware and Digital Software Solutions.
  • Advanced leadership skills, including coaching, teambuilding, conflict resolution, and management.
  • Advanced project management skills including time and risk management, resource prioritization, and project structuring.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experienced in managing teams across geographies to drive workforce development and achieve desired results.
  • Advanced communication skills catered to a wide variety of audiences. (e.g. written, verbal, presentation); mastery in English and local language
  • Superior business acumen, technical knowledge of multiple business units, and extensive knowledge in applications and technologies.
  • Advanced multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Advanced relationship management skills, including partnering and consulting.
  • Strong understanding of HP's policies and processes.
  • Familiar with Figma and Jira tools will be preferred.
