NRDC is a non-profit environmental advocacy organization. We use law, science, and the support of 3.1 million members and online activists to protect the planet's wildlife and wild places and to ensure the rights of all people to clean air, clean water, and healthy communities. NRDC was founded in 1970 and our people helped write some of America's bedrock environmental laws, including the Clean Water Act and many of the implementing regulations. Position Summary 

NRDC is seeking a Senior Executive Associate (SEA) to work with and provide administrative, logistics and operational support to the Chief Development Officer and Deputy Chief Development Officer.  Reporting to the Development Chief of Staff, the SEA’s time is dedicated to handling a wide range of duties that support the fundraising, administrative, and managerial work of the office of the Chief Development Officer.


Administrative

  • Manage administrative functions in support to the Chief Development Officer in a variety of capacities including telephone coverage, meeting coordination, travel arrangements, invoice and travel expense reporting, contract administration and assisting with specially assigned projects.

Communications

  • Develop and edit correspondence to donors and volunteer leaders such as trustees and honorary trustees.
  • Preparation of presentation materials for meetings, events and speaking engagements for the CDO/DCDO. This includes the use of PowerPoint or other presentation software.
  • Proactively track and help manage relationships and communications to key VIP donors.
  • Oversee Contact Administration such as processing and tracking vendor contracts that are managed out of the Chief Development Office.
  • Act as representative for the Chief Development Officer as needed while traveling, by attending meetings and taking notes, or effectively and responsively handling communications with high level internal and external constituents such as the President’s Office, members of the Development Committee of the Board of Trustees, or high-level financial donors
  • Preparing meeting briefings and procuring research material for donor visits.

Data Entry

  • Enter contact reports and next steps into Salesforce donor database
  • Update donor information as needed in database and files
  • Update Development Department Intranet content
  • Maintain Teams Channels and other communication methods the department uses

Financial & Human Resources

  • Partner with the DCOS and the Finance Department to produce regular budget expense reports for the department
  • Work with HR Department to track open, closed and vacant positions within the Development Department.
  • Assist Development Chief of Staff with annual budget planning

Department Wide

  • In partnership with the DCOS prepare or coordinate agenda and materials for monthly all staff Development meetings and bimonthly Development Leadership Team (DLT) meetings
  • Manage logistics and details for quarterly DLT retreats and annual Department-wide retreat. Lead staff working group related to the annual Department retreat. The above list of duties is not comprehensive but generally demonstrates the types of matters under this position’s responsibility. Other duties may be assigned.

Minimum Education & Experience:  

  • BA or equivalent experience required
  • 5-7 or more years’ experience working within a large NGO and supporting a leadership team or individual is preferred.

  • Self-directed and independent with the ability to prioritize multiple projects and anticipate the administrative needs of the executives he/she/they supports
  • Detail oriented with excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to travel to NRDC U.S.-based offices, approximately 20% or less annually

We offer competitive salaries, excellent benefits, and a supportive working environment. Salary is based on a nonprofit scale and is commensurate with skills and experience. Internal equity will be reviewed and considered to determine a final offer. For this position, the salary range is $100,000 to $109,000.  

 

Our offices are open and we are operating in a hybrid model. We offer NRDCers flexibility, and we ask them to come into the office and spend meaningful time there in collaboration with their colleagues. We call this purposeful presence.
