Job Overview
LaBella Associates seeks a Senior Environmental Planner. The Environmental Impact Group (within the Environmental Division) at LaBella Associates provides environmental review, impact analysis, and planning services to a variety of municipal, private, and utility clients in addition to serving internal LaBella divisions.
Under general supervision of the Environmental Impact Group leader, the successful candidate will prepare various environmental documents and related technical studies pursuant to the New York State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), Executive Law Section 94-c, and other regulatory programs. The candidate may also participate in a broad range of other environmental services offered by LaBella Associates. Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills are essential for the position.
This is a hybrid/remote position.
Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) documentation, including Environmental Impact Statements.
  • Review and prepare National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation.
  • Review and prepare critical issues analysis for proposed development projects.
  • Review, analyze, and summarize environmental, engineering, and transportation documents.
  • Review, analyze, and summarize Section 94-c application materials.
  • Coordinate State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) review.
  • Oversee interdisciplinary project teams.
  • Lead and participate in public meetings.
  • Ability to manage projects considering time and budget constraints.
  • Conduct research, technical analyses and report writing to support environmental assessments and reports.
  • Develop and nurture client relationships including preparation of proposals and project management.
  • Assist the Environmental Impact Group Leader with project management and strategy, QA/QC process, and business development goals.
  • Oversight, mentoring, and training of junior staff.
  • Communicate with clients including developers, regulatory agencies, and municipal clients regarding project status and next steps.
Qualifications
  • We are looking for professionals with Bachelor's degrees that have at least 5-12 years of experience, in environmental analysis, environmental science, planning or a related field preferred. Advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience in environmental consulting, planning or related field.
  • Desired Skills:
    • Experience reviewing and evaluating environmental and sustainability issues including solar energy, wind energy, water resources, visual impacts, noise impacts, geology, soils, wildlife, agriculture, and historic/archeological resources
    • Well versed in SEQRA, NEPA and SHPO review processes
    • Knowledge of Section 94-c
    • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel). GIS skills a plus.
    • Excellent presentation skills
    • Demonstrated problem solving and leadership skills
    • Highly organized including good recordkeeping and project management skills

Salary Range: $75,000- $105,000
The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.
