Job description

This is a hybrid role. The first three months are full time in the office.
Eversource Energy is looking for a Senior Engineer, Standards located in Hooksett, NH. This individual will work in the Transmission & Distribution Standards Engineering group who will focus on equipment and materials to be used on the Electrical Distribution System. This individual will provide subject matter expertise in automation equipment, smart grid systems, and new product developments.
Essential Functions:

  • Create, maintain, and distribute construction, work method, material and design procedures that will be used by engineers, designers and lineworkers.
  • Maintain and support all existing equipment currently in service on the distribution system. Will be responsible for Equipment Performance, Reliability and Failure Analysis tracking.
  • Responsible for quality control of equipment. Will provide troubleshooting, site support, and corrective actions for technical issues faced by other engineering teams.
  • Evaluate new distribution equipment and applications used on the distribution system.
  • Interface and work collaboratively with internal and external engineering teams such as: GridMod, DG, Transmission, Distribution Engineering, Operations, etc., for the determination of designs and resolutions to problems.
  • Support, and at times represent the department and the company on various industry related committees.
  • Participate in industry technical workshops to evaluate new equipment developments and work practices to ensure Eversource stays current with the best applications and work methods.
  • Trains internal stakeholders in technical analyses and procedures, as needed.

Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Technical Knowledge/Skill:
  • Ability to write and maintain material specifications, construction standards, and other related documentation for overhead electrical distribution equipment.
  • Understanding of work method documentation, construction practices and procedures, and operating instruction.
  • Understanding of electrical & engineering concepts such as:
    • Protective schemes & devices
    • Power generation & distribution
    • Reliability (load flow, short circuit, transients, power factor)
    • Voltage regulation & transformation
    • Structural modelling
  • Strong technical understanding of the parameters and functions used in the operation of the power delivery system, as well as power industry fundamentals, practices, and standards.
  • Understanding of SCADA, radio communications, cellular communications, and equipment programming is preferred.
  • Knowledge of national electric standards and codes; IEEE and the NESC.
  • Strong communication (both verbal and written), interpersonal, presentation skills.
  • Strong computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft products and internet applications.

Education:
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering is required. Electrical Engineering or Power Systems is preferred.
  • An advanced degree is preferred.

Experience:
  • A minimum of five (5) years of related experience is required.
  • Experience in the utility industry is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:
  • Eversource offers a competitive total rewards program. The annual salary range for this position is $118,690.00 to $131,880.00, plus incentive. Salary is commensurate with your experience. Check out the career site for an overview of benefits.

Working Conditions:
  • Must be available to work emergency restoration assignment as required.
  • Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
