SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Senior Engineer will work with New Product Development (NPD) teams to study the structure and properties of pressure sensitive adhesives and how the manufacturing processes affects product performance with the goal of developing critical information needed in the design, development and scale-up of PSA tapes and related products. This position serves as a source of product/process technology knowledge in multiple areas. The Senior Scientist/Engineer will work with Marketing and Manufacturing to support core business needs such as complaint resolutions, Voice-of-the-Customer activities and cost-reduction initiatives.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
- This person should have a minimum bachelor degree in engineering (preferably mechanical, chemical, or construction technology).
- Plus at least 10 years of experience in the building materials or testing industry.
- Minimum 10 years related experience in building science or related field. This includes materials, materials testing, system design, field work or other experience will be considered.
- Prior experience in design, review and assessment of Building Envelope is preferred.
- Strong Familiarity with Trends, Building Codes, Materials of Construction, Water and Energy Management.
- The qualified candidate will be actively involved with various organizations including ASTM, CRRC, IIBEC, NRCA, SPRI, ARMA, ERA, DoE, NRC, ASHRAE and others. The candidate will monitor the industry for new developments in technology from shows and seminars
- A basic understanding of the interactions and dependencies of the wall and roof systems in the Building Envelope.
- Understanding of the Building Envelope including experience with materials and systems and modeling the building performance. Prior experience with Building Envelope system design, material science and understanding of building code compliance is a plus.
- An understanding of ASTM test methods and basic design criteria for roofing and wall systems.
- Must have a basic understanding of raw materials used in Rubber, Plastic, Adhesives, and Asphalt. Manufacturing experience or knowledge in one or more of these areas is a plus.

- Ability to sit, stand and work in front of a laptop or PC workstation for extended periods of time
- Some light lifting may be required

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The job is performed in a combination of a climate-controlled office environment, a lab setting, and production environment.
- Travel may be involved to visit other company facilities, visiting suppliers, and customers

Responsibilities
- An understanding of the test methods and design criteria for applicable products and systems, including the ability to learn new methods for innovative products.
- An in depth understanding of contractor application techniques and job functions as well as the ability to help them build new capabilities so they can use innovative products.
- Excellent interpersonal skills dealing with a broad range of people both internal and external.
- Scheduling materials, jobs, working with R&D teammates, product managers, contractors, owners, and consultants.
- Involvement with regulatory agencies and industry associations related to buildings, infrastructure, residential, fireproofing and commercial.
- Relationship with third party testing such as DOT,FM Approvals, UL, Intertek, CRRC, CCMC, and PRI.
- Understanding of the Residential, water proofing, fireproofing, and Building Envelope systems including expert knowledge of building code compliance and field evaluation testing, building system design, and material science.
- Support for Sales representatives, manufacturing, and field services with expert advice on product application.
