The Senior Electronics Design Engineer (SEDE) is a talented individual with in-depth knowledge of state-of-the-art electronics development in research and industry. They will be responsible for the design, development, and optimization of complex electronics systems and components for all types of scientific research. They will work to ensure that the ELECTRONICS DESIGNed by the renowned Electronics Design Facility (EDF) meets the highest standards of efficiency, safety, and functionality, while solving unique problems. The SEDE reports to the Senior Principal Electronics Design Engineer of the EDF and assists in the training and oversight of junior engineers on research projects.
The SEDE has considerable expertise and creativity in all areas of design for electronics used in scientific research, including analog circuit design, digital design with FPGAs, and mixed-signal design. They also have demonstrated experience with high-speed data acquisition systems, such as those commonly used in large-scale particle physics experiments. The SEDE will collaborate with engineers and scientists at Boston University and other institutions on research projects. They will assist in training and supervising student technicians, assist in teaching activities, assist in outreach activities, and occasionally travel to domestic and international research sites.
