Primary Function:
Our client is looking for an energetic individual who will have a positive influence on the organization and the Electrical Test Team. This position plays an important role in the development of prototype electric materials handling equipment, including forklifts, terminal tractors, and port equipment. Responsibilities will include the assembly, troubleshooting, repairs and testing on prototype electric materials handling equipment. This individual interacts with all aspects of the organization, including engineering design and test (primary), marketing, and service to ensure we that meet customer requirements and acceptance. Travel required (up to 50%) to support Field Service work.
Essential Job Functions - Responsibilities:
- Build, troubleshoot, repair and test prototype equipment, either on site or in the field
- Assemble, disassemble, and modify materials handling equipment and subsystems as required.
- Perform light fabrication (e.g., sheet metal, welding, machining, etc.)
- Communicate data analysis and test results through both verbal and written reports.
Education and Experience: (Knowledge, skills, & abilities)
- Associate of Applied Science Degree
- Hands-on demonstrated ability in automotive or heavy machinery mechanics
- Experience with machining and fabrication practices, manufacturing methods and tolerances
- Experience interpreting drawings of parts, weldments, hydraulics, and electrical schematics
- Basic computer skills including proficiency using Microsoft Office suite of tools.
- Intermediate understanding of electrical circuits, high voltage systems, motors and controllers
- Ability to operate lift trucks.
- Ability to meet physical demands of working on equipment (lifting, pulling, bending, and reaching)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience as a forklift service technician
- Experience with High Voltage automotive systems
- Experience with Li-Ion battery systems and/or electric drive systems
- Experience with sensor selection, data acquisition systems, and CAN bus analysis tools
Work Environment
SHOP: Standard machine shop environment with various types of machinery. Appropriate safety garments (PPE) must be worn. Must be able to stand and work as long as 12 hours in different positions. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
ENGINEERING: Standard office environment with normal amounts of office related conditions. Occasionally may be required to work in environmental conditions that emulate typical user environments in order to facilitate design testing and validation. Occasionally may be required to travel as required to other facilities, clients or suppliers.
