We are seeking an experienced Utility Electrical Engineer for our High Performance Facilities business unit in our San Antonio office.

This position requires a competent professional engineer who will be responsible for all phases of engineering production for a variety of work ranging from programming through construction administration. This includes interpreting, organizing, executing, and coordinating the design and production effort for one or more large or complex projects.
Job Description
- Provide conceptual / detailed design of medium voltage power distribution including 15kV and 35kV of overhead and underground lines, service transformers, and electrical service to industrial, commercial, and residential properties. Specifically, this work is in support of the CPS Energy client.
- Provide supporting documentation such as calculations, reports, and specifications.
- This individual is expected to possess extensive knowledge on electrical regulatory codes.
- Meet with clients to prepare and/or validate proposed scope of work.
- Prepare fee proposals for engineering design work.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work effectively within a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to complete tasks with accuracy and with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to consistently meet deadlines, completing tasks as previously defined.
- Ability to attend site visits.
- Ability to write and edit specifications.
- Work in a design team environment, including directing and mentoring the work of junior engineers and designers, and delegating work as required as well as provide management of the local team.
- Capable of performing all of the above with minimal direction.
- An agreed upon hybrid schedule, working from both home and office, is available to employees in good standing.
- This position may require periodic reporting to the client’s office (either 1604/Green Mountain Rd or I-35/Zarzamora St) for work and / or training. Candidates are required to meet company expectations for attendance and punctuality.
Required Experience
- Twelve (12) years minimum of overhead electrical, underground electrical or combination of experience is required.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Electrical Engineering is required. A Texas PE is required or have the ability for immediate PE reciprocity between the current state PE and Texas.
- Experience with CPS Energy or other electric utility design projects is required.
- Experience with DOD government work is highly desired.
- Minimum four (4) years of experience using ArcGIS or other design software based drawing generation. Knowledge of GIS is a must.
- Experience using electrical calculation tools is desired, including lighting and power software such as AGi32, Easy Power, ETAP, and / or Power Tools SKM.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office Excel & Word.
- Experience using technical codes: NESC, NEC, ISA, IEEE Regulatory Codes Experience in document generation for power distribution and instrumentation & controls.
- Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
- Local candidates strongly preferred.
- Candidate must pass a background check given the criteria set by the client.
