The Electrical Engineer Sr. Advisor (EE) is the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Electrical Engineering support for development, construction, and operating projects within the Flexible Generation & Retail Global Business Unit (FGBU) in North America. The EE is responsible for ensuring that proper electrical design is utilized in all projects, supporting development teams through the interconnection study process, and providing quality oversight of electrical design and construction throughout FGBU’s North American operations.
This position will sit in Houston, TX and will report to the VP Project Delivery, FGBU North America. This position is open to a hybrid scheduled of both in-office and work-from-home days.

What you'll do:
Responsible for the Electrical Engineering support required for development projects within North America (Canada and the United States) consisting mainly of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Green Hydrogen production facilities
Accountable for the creation and maintenance of Electrical Engineering standards for use within FGBU’s projects and facilities
Responsible for oversight, considering company policies and procedures, codes and standards, and regulations, of engineering consultants’ and other contractors’ electrical designs and construction as required to deliver the assigned projects
Responsible for all technical issues and aspects related to interconnection with utility transmission and distribution facilities and support of general Electrical Engineering issues
Support development team efforts related to interconnection applications, through all study phases, and works with the team to obtain and maintain the required interconnection
Remain knowledgeable of and able to address a variety of grid interconnection issues including those common to renewable energy projects such as voltage support, low voltage ride through, harmonics, and grid protection as well as issues related to large grid connected loads
Act independently with minimal direction and, as a project team member, must be able to work cooperatively to deliver quality Electrical Engineering for the project, interconnection agreements, and the team’s goals for a successful project
Must keep up to date on new technologies and regulatory conditions including codes, industry standards, best practices, customer requirements, and other relevant standards
Advises origination and preconstruction teams during the early-stage opportunity development process by sizing and selecting electrical equipment
Works with the development team to identify the point of interconnection for projects as well as conducts project due diligence to adequately estimate cost impacts for potential opportunities
Reviews system drawing sets for purposes of bidding, permitting, and construction in accordance with ENGIE standards, NEC, IEEE and any other local codes
Reviews electrical contractors to confirm adherence to plans and specifications. Ensure that all installations meet electrical code requirements
Assists other teams such as category management and finance as needed
Carries out other duties as assigned
What you'll bring:
A minimum of a four (4) year degree with a focus in Electrical Engineering required
An advanced degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
A minimum of ten (10) years’ experience in engineering, industrial, utility, or construction environments
A high level of Electrical Engineering expertise including transmission systems, high voltage substations, AC/DC conversions, DC applications such as electrolyzers and batteries, and all aspects of industrial facility AC electrical systems
Professional Engineer Registration in the US
Ability to create, read and interpret construction plans and specifications
Essential Physical Abilities
Ability to meet highest attendance requirements
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to use personal computer, calculator, etc
Could involve some lifting
Additional Information/Conditions:

Ability to communicate effectively
A Professional Engineer license is strongly preferred
Able to travel for several days at a time and spend up to 50% of their time at project locations remote from the base work location

Salary Range: $130,830-$218,505 USD annually
Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors
In addition to salary, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan
