Job Description:
Ready to put your design skills to work on marquee industrial projects that will change the fabric of our community? Would you enjoy collaborating closely with other Designer/Drafters and Engineers to ensure a coordinated design? Parsons is now hiring a Designer for our rapidly expanding portfolio of projects. Parsons extensive experience combined with your design knowledge and technical skills will propel your career forward.
We need our Electrical Designers to apply standard design principles and theories to create design solutions for new and existing industrial projects that are innovative, practical, and suitable for operation. In this role you will develop difficult and complex working drawings from equipment specifications, engineering notes, sketches, and/or detailed drawings, ensuring that they meet company and industry standards and codes. Our designers understand the materials and methods normally used within electrical design.
Responsibilities:
- Consults project managers, engineers, and clients to determine design requirements.
- Presents designs, concepts, and/or final work to clients for evaluation.
- Uses computer software to develop 3D models of assorted designs.
- Work with other specialists such as engineers or manufacturers to evaluate whether their design concepts will fill a need at a reasonable cost.
- Understands NEC/NFPA Code, Hazardous Area Classification, & grounding requirements.
- Creates sections and details from electrical plan.
- Applies standard design principles and theories to complete assignments.
- Utilizes technical manuals to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable standards and codes such as NEC, NFPA & ISA.
- Ensures compliance with required design safety factors, tolerances, and specifications.
- Compiles data and performs dimensional and routine calculations required for the preparation of drawings.
- Experience with conceptual, FEED, and detailed design of large industrial facilities.
- Makes required changes, additions, and/or revisions, as directed by immediate supervisor.
- Works closely with other Designer/Drafters and Engineers to ensure a coordinated design.
- Lead and mentor lower level Designer/Drafters team members in various procedures.
- Checks drawings prepared by lower level Designer/Drafters for accuracy and adequacy.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
Qualifications:
Associate's or equivalent technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent work experience).
8+ years of relevant experience.
Requirements include PC literacy, proficiency in utilizing CAD/P3D/AVEVA and other computer software used to complete design assignments.

Salary Range:
$32.88 - $68.56
