- Report to the Manager for Commissioning working in both an office and construction environment.
- Manage electrical design teams on major building projects to assure owner's requirements are met:
- Coordinate with owner's representatives, architects, electrical engineers, code officials and other stake-holders to assure development of Owner's Project Requirements and Basis of Design documents.
- Lead design meetings. Clarify University design, cost, schedule and quality requirements. Assure adherence with University sustainability, energy conservation and LEED certification initiatives.
- Evaluate construction documents for completeness, correctness, compliance with the design intent, constructability, operability, maintainability, and conformance with applicable codes, standards and University guidelines.
- Review project budgets and propose value engineering ideas. Review contractor bids, submittals, and test reports for compliance with the design and budget.
- Be the Commissioning Authority and lead the construction-phase commissioning activities on projects.
- Create the commissioning plan and participate in pre-start, startup, and functional test procedures.
- Conduct commissioning meetings, publish minutes and facilitate completion of commissioning action items.
- Visit construction sites to investigate problems and identify construction deficiencies. Participate in resolutions to electrical design, construction, and commissioning issues.
- Evaluate new building systems, products and construction methods for incorporation into University design guidelines and specifications.
- Perform field surveys of existing systems. Provide recommendations for system improvements.

Skills You Have
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering field.
- Five years of progressively responsible experience in the design and construction of building systems. At least 3 years of professional experience as a Commissioning Engineer (or equivalent) for a building owner, architecture/engineering firm or commissioning firm.
- Demonstrated experience in design-phase and construction-phase building commissioning.
- Demonstrated experience working with electrical systems and equipment.
- Knowledge of the Michigan Building and Electrical Codes, and related industry standards.
- Knowledge of architectural/engineering firm design practices and building construction management.
- Experience leading design and construction personnel.
- Experience creating documents using Microsoft Office software and other engineering software related to electrical or mechanical design and commissioning.
