Senior Electrical Designer
Summary
Independently provides drawings and/or drafting sketches, plans, or layouts for electrical system projects and discusses the feasibility of the plans with electrical engineers.
Perform detailed phases of design engineering work on multiple major projects of the highest complexity requiring forefront of the field and innovative solutions, including, and not limited to designing, and developing standards.
Additionally, Electrical Designers IV assists in coaching the development of junior staff competencies and skills.
Accountability
- Creating and assembling a complete complex set of construction documents independently
- Preparing complex system layouts, detailed drawings, and schematics
- Performing electrical system calculations and specifying equipment
- Reviewing and ensuring quality standards for deliverables
- Generating technical specifications
- Construction phase services including shop drawing review, RFIs, field observation, and punch lists
- Preparing design narratives, technical studies, condition assessments
- Field investigation and as built of existing conditions
- Providing support to junior and senior team members on projects and subtasks
- Maintains product and company reputation by complying with federal and state regulations
- Maintaining project database by entering data for company records and communication
- Contributing to project milestones ensuring all milestone deadlines are met
- Mentoring team members by providing guidance, advice, feedback, and support
Qualifications and Experience
- Extensive experience designing/coordinating the following electrical systems:
- Power Distribution Systems, including medium and low voltage distribution systems, standby power applications, load calculations, short circuit and coordination studies, arc flash hazard
- Lighting Systems, including calculations, lighting controls, luminaire selections and architecturally integrated lighting systems
- Auxiliary Systems, including fire alarm systems, voice/data structured cabling systems, access control, CCTV and other low voltage systems design
- Exceptional understanding in Revit and AutoCAD
- Exceptional critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Ability to adapt to changing work environments, priorities and organizational needs
- Ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
- Detail oriented, self-motivated, and enthusiastic
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills and strong organizational skills
- 7-10 years of experience in a designer/drafting role
