Position Overview
We are currently looking for a Senior Director, IT Project Management to join our IT Applications Organization. In this role you will be responsible for overseeing and leading the organization's IT Project Management Office. This includes setting strategic direction, managing a team of project managers, and ensuring IT projects align with the company's business goals and objectives. This also includes ensuring IT Projects and Programs are planned for according to business unit demands and priority and are delivered as committed. Role includes the establishment of and continuous improvements to project and program management standards in accordance with market best practices. The Senior Director, IT Project Management will provide the vision and leadership necessary to plan and execute strategic programs and tactical projects. This position requires an IT leader with sound knowledge and hands on experience of IT project, portfolio, management practices including leadership of complex cross-functional programs and teams. In this role you will partner with business sponsors, corporate functions, and key stakeholders to drive the project execution and delivery processes for the successful outcome of delivering business value and maintaining our IT systems. You will provide complete visibility into all project execution across IT in an executive friendly format, highlight risks and perform trend analysis on project execution. .
You'll also manage a team of Project Managers (PMs) to support delivery of the portfolio. Ultimately, you'll ensure your team is working effectively, while maintaining accountability and compliance with Trustmark standards and governance requirements throughout the delivery lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Establish, implement and improve project and program management standards.
- Coach, mentor, train and support team members in the fulfilment of their portfolio delivery and support functions.
- Provide transparency into all IT projects to drive successful delivery.
- Conduct regular meetings with ITSLT to inform them of any issues with the performance of individual projects within the portfolio, validate and assess the project portfolio, execute change and reprioritize as necessary to meet business needs.
- Confirm that the use of resources and funding is on plan and highlight any variances.
- Lead reviews of any significant initiatives, projects or programs that have run into challenges. Provide recommendations as to whether they should be continued, changed significantly, placed on hold or discontinued.
- Oversee and coordinate dependencies across the initiatives in the portfolio and resolve or escalate conflicts.
- Work across IT and the business units to understand current pain points, challenges, and use as input into the continuous improvement of the portfolio management processes.
- Establish KPIs, track, report on execution of portfolio in relation to KPIs.
- Ensure and balance the availability of the required skills and competencies across project and program teams within the project portfolio, as mandated and resourced by leadership.
- Establish and maintain the required portfolio documentation and artifacts.
- Delivers the agreed upon IT Portfolio via programs and projects
- Review team member work products and deliverables to provide feedback and ensure quality.
- Responsible for using data and insight to support decision making and must posses the ability to articulate the impacts of the data.
- Oversee relationships with external vendors and suppliers, ensuring they meet project requirements and deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in IT or a related field required
- 10+ years of experience in IT with direct experience in IT project, program, management
- 5+ years participating in an organizational change including moving to agile delivery models
- 5+ years in leadership role, focused on IT Project Delivery
- Experience of enterprise portfolio governance frameworks
- Strong Project Management background
- Experience successfully planning and managing highly complex and large-scale enterprise-based programs/projects, including budget management/oversight
- Strong leadership competence, with proven skills in managing change, critical thinking/reasoning
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to influence
- Proven communication skills; both written and verbal with technical and non-technical staff and all levels of management
- Proficient in Microsoft Windows applications (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio)
- PMP (Project Management Professional) or similar certifications
