Position Summary
The Senior Director II of Communications is responsible for all strategy, implementation and team oversight related to corporate reputation, strategic public relations, internal and external Corporate Communications and risk.
Role and Responsibilities
Strategy and Management

• Maintain a high-performance organization of communications professionals.
• Establish overall strategy for Corporate Communications in the US, including narrative and messaging.
• Work effectively with other leaders of communications organizations in the US, notably for product PR and public affairs.
• Manage PR agency staff, deliverables, timelines and budget.

External Communications

• Develop and execute thought leadership communications to highlight Samsung's presence in the US.
• Prepare an executive communications program for corporate leadership, including interviews, speaking opportunities, etc.
• Maintain and grow relationships with key media and thought leaders, including editors, journalists and business analysts.
• Enhance Samsung-developed content to tell the company's story through owned channels.
• Support global and US events including major trade shows, charity gala, etc.

Risk Management

• Lead issues communications, working with other stakeholders in the company.
• Develop robust processes for crisis communications, including external agency relationships.

Internal Communications

• Enhance employee communications working with key stakeholders, especially in human resources.
• Develop new tools and technologies for internal communications to strengthen employee loyalty.

Skills and Qualifications

• High potential executive with 15+ years of experience creating and implementing successful corporate communication and risk strategies within a complex and heavily matrixed corporate environment.
• Demonstrable track record of defining challenges and goals, and setting strategic direction to accomplish immediate and long-range objectives that address business issues and build trust across all stakeholder groups.
• Proactive and forward thinking with a track record of anticipating, and developing plans to address, future events, trends, problems and opportunities.
• Ability to get things done through effective partnering and collaboration; open to trying different, creative ways to deal with business challenges and opportunities to ensure the team's objectives are met.
• Inspirational team leader who is passionate about talent development and creating a high-performing, dynamic team that expertly identifies and solves problems in an efficient manner.
• Strong influencer and partner to peers and senior leaders across the organization; ability to leverage relationship to help navigate the complex and ambiguous situations that may arise.
• Executive gravitas to hold his/her own with senior leaders internally and with external constituents.
