About the Team

The Federal GTM Legal team provides transactional counsel and support for our Federal-focused business teams working with prospects and customers purchasing subscriptions and professional services as well as the complex compliance obligations associated with government contracting. We also work closely with partners supporting Workday’s federal business and establish and maintain critical contracting vehicles specific to the Federal market. We closely collaborate with the broader Workday legal organization and other cross-functional teams to drive growth, improve customer experience and scale on our path to $10 billion in revenue.

About the Role

Workday Inc is seeking a Senior Director, Go-To-Market Federal to join our legal team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced attorney with a passion for driving strategic change and providing world-class legal counsel.

As the Senior Director, Go-To-Market Federal, you will have a vital role in supporting our US Federal Government business. You will lead multiple responsibilities and tasks in a fast-paced and high-growth environment, serving as a field leader and strategic advisor with a focus on driving customer satisfaction in GTM contracting and compliance-focused efforts. Your experience in government contracting and the US Federal market will be instrumental in achieving these goals.

You will have the opportunity to work with senior management and business executives, serving as a change agent to drive strategic direction and innovation. Your outstanding judgment and business sense, combined with your executive presence, will be instrumental in taking care of and building relationships with customers, partners, and internal leaders.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish and lead Workday's US Federal Office of Legal & Compliance, ensuring compliance with specific legal requirements for serving the US Federal government.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to Workday's GM of Federal and senior executive management, providing strategic legal counsel and support for key federal business initiatives.
  • Advise individuals involved in a variety of legal matters and obligations concerning their service to the US Federal government, including agencies within the DoD and IC.
  • Act as the subject matter expert on bid protests, performance issues, and FOIA matters.
  • Collaborate with existing legal functions (e.g., employment, investigations, privacy, security, supply chain) to ensure alignment and compliance.

About You

Basic Qualifications:

  • J.D. degree and membership in at least 1 state bar.
  • 15+ years of US Federal-specific transactional, compliance, regulatory experience, with a proven track record in leading complex government transactions.
  • 5+ years of people leadership experience required.

Other Qualifications:

  • Excellent contract negotiation and drafting skills, with experience in enterprise cloud software.
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills, adaptable to legal and non-legal audiences.
  • Superior judgment and ability to advise clients effectively and creatively.
  • Strength in cultivating internal and external relationships and leading project collaboration.
  • Open to technological improvements and AI opportunities.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and coordinate time effectively.
  • Attention to detail with a willingness to drive creative solutions and make quick decisions.
  • Ability to be a positive leader in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Genuine interest in supporting others in their professional growth and development.


Workday Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Recruiters can share more detail during the hiring process. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $269,200 USD - $403,800 USD


Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $243,600 USD - $438,000 USD
