Senior Director, Global Commercial Strategy and Operations (GCSO), HIV Franchise
This position is a Foster City, CA based role
Our Sr Director, Global Commercial Strategy and Operations, Strategy and Operations, HIV Franchise is responsible for leading the evolution and implementation of the strategic Franchise plans above-brand level for HIV
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure stakeholders value Gilead as leader and partner of choice due to our focused platform of priorities and our unified, collaborative approach
- Focus on Gilead identity/ reputation and long-term environment shaping
- Ensure health system stakeholders see and integrate Gilead innovation as instrumental to improving health outcomes, achieving health equity, and ending the HIV epidemic.
- Renew HIV public health priority and effort
- Work closely with all cross functional partners to deliver the strategic 10-year Franchise plan
- Evolve the HIV Franchise strategy to consistently deliver differentiated value above brands with external stakeholders and amplify Gilead leadership
- Execute the global franchise campaign, including differentiating strategy, unique branding, compelling positioning, and key messaging that establishes our global leadership position in the HIV, COVID and Emerging Viruses space
- Key deliverables include the HIV leadership platform refresh (global HIV Franchise brand identity and positioning, global campaign assets, messaging, and narrative) and review of the Franchise stakeholder engagement framework (priority platform focus areas, Framework to support proactive engagement and co-creation)
- Working in close collaboration with the local, regional, and global cross functional Teams to ensure Franchise stakeholder engagement, strategy, positioning, and educational initiatives are consistently aligned with the global business strategy and key stakeholder needs
- Develop, manage, and maintain key performance indicators to track performance and impact of Franchise activities and deliverables. Amend plans as needed
- Support the VP/EDs of HIV, COVID & Emerging Viruses in other key strategic plans and projects incl budget submissions and OPEX tracking as needed.
Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
- A Bachelor's Degree and 14 years' experience or a minimum of 12 years' experience (with an advanced degree) in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry
- Strong background in competitive marketing with demonstrated impact in the market: Strategic and operational experience from significant marketing role (expected)
- Prior regional or global experience (preferred)

- Experience working with senior /executive management to clearly and concisely present strategic plans for endorsement
- Ability to envision future opportunities and risks based on solid analytics
- Excellence in leading in the global matrix structure and serving global affiliates.
- Excellent understanding the different functions from clinical dev to the different commercial teams and ability to navigate, lead and influence our Ecosystem and global matrix environment effectively
- Versed in elevating the voice of the customer to drive innovation
- Ability to challenge status quo and drive organizational excellence for continuous evolution of our Franchise strategy and tactics from "good to great"
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to influenc
- e and work successfully with varied audiences internally and externally
- Passion for delivering on Gilead's mission for patients and a healthier world
- Virology experience (particularly in HIV and COVID) and market knowledge preferably
- Outstanding strategic and scientific acumen and in depth understanding of key markets and TA including pipeline.
- Strong strategic and analytical skills, demonstrated by the ability to identify and interpret complex issues and provide appropriate recommendations across functional areas
- Demonstrated skills in global pharmaceutical planning including the ability to develop and implement above brand strategies and environment shaping plans, campaign development, tactical planning, and budget management
- Strong competitive and innovative mindset
- Demonstrated excellence in project management and juggling multiple priorities and projects
The salary range for this position is: $230,860.00 - $298,760.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
