WOW Logistics is now hiring for a Senior Design Engineer, PPI!
As a Senior Design Engineer for Project Planning and Implementation, you will be a key member of a cross functional team including Engineering, Operations, and Sales. As a part of this team, you are responsible for analyzing operational challenges, developing customer supply chain solutions, assisting in pricing new business, driving continuous improvements, establishing new procedures, and expanding on existing business for this leading Midwest third party logistics provider (3PL). This role will work with all departments and all levels within the company.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and improve engineering tools and methodologies to ensure industry best practices.
- Cleary define project scope of work that will effectively measure operational milestones and scope creep.
- Demonstrate an understanding of our Customer’s business and providing feasible designs what are aligned with their needs.
- Develop operational pricing models for new and existing customers.
- Effectively communicate the design and solution to internal stake holders & the client.
- Participate in managing the companies’ MHE (Material Handling Equipment) and storage system strategies. This includes analyzing, quoting, purchasing, and optimizing use of a multi-million-dollar fleet of warehouse equipment.
- Support consulting projects that involve understanding customers' pain-points developing and presenting solutions.
- Analyze and implement warehouse management system (WMS) configurations for new and existing operations.
- Develop process flows, concept of operations and value propositions and work with IT to develop concept of systems.
- Develop integrated logistics solutions, including facility layout, process flow, labor requirements, storage systems, material handling equipment, information technology systems, and other related items.
- Comprehend complex supply chain and warehousing solutions and segment design processes into manageable elements and process steps.
- Assist Sales and Operations to gather data, perform analysis, and organize customer bids and proposals.
- Coordinate with Finance and other functions to develop cost and pricing models as well as relevant assumptions.
- Analyze existing facilities and customer accounts to ensure operations are running efficiently and cost effectively.
- Identify, analyze, and implement cost savings opportunities.
- Support awarded business throughout the PPI process, successfully transitioning design and proposal assumptions to Operations/CI Resources through steady state.
- Establish, maintain, and utilize a database of costs, labor time standards, KPIs (Key Performance Indicators), and other operational metrics.
- Create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors).
- Conduct process improvement including analyzing, documenting, and communicating best practices, standard work instructions (SWIs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Meet frequently with customers and cross-functional Project Planning and Implementation (PPI) response team. Support technical review presentations and design validation meetings.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar Engineering field preferred
- 5-7 years or more related work experience in the warehousing and/or manufacturing industry (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Warehouse Operations, Warehouse Design and Layout) required
- Experience in AutoCAD required
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Knowledgeable with data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI)
- Must be detail-oriented and well organized; excellent written, listening, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Strong MS Office Skills; including Word, Excel and Outlook is a must
- Strong math skills. General knowledge of accounting math would be preferred
- Ability to prioritize, organize, self-manage, and successfully balance multiple tasks and requests to meet project deadlines
- Must have a strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast paced environment
