SUMMARY
The Senior Data Scientist formulate and lead guided, multifaceted analytic studies against large volumes of data.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's or bachelor's degree in operations research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or related fields and a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient with one or more programming languages (Java, C++, Python, R, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience applying data science methods to real-world data problems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Interprets and analyzes data using exploratory mathematic and statistical techniques based on the scientific method.
Coordinates research and analytic activities utilizing various data points (unstructured and structured) and employ programming to clean, massage, and organize the data.
Performs experiment against data points, provides information based on experiment results and provides previously undiscovered solutions to command data challenges.
Leads all data experiments tasked by the DST Team OIC.
Coordinates with Data Engineers to build Data environments providing data identified by Data Analysts.
Plans daily activities within the guidelines of company policy, job description and supervisor's instruction in such a way as to maximize personal output.
Responsible for aiding in own self-development by being available and receptive to all training made available by the company.
Responsible for keeping own immediate work area in a neat and orderly condition to ensure safety of self and co-workers. Will report any unsafe conditions and/or practices to the appropriate supervisor and human resources. Will immediately correct any unsafe conditions as the best of own ability.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Master's or Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Computer Science, or related fields and a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience.
Proficient with one or more programming languages (Java, C++, Python, R, etc.).
Demonstrated experience applying data science methods to real-world data problems.
CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATION
Must possess and maintain current DoD Top Secret clearance and eligible for SCI access and ACCM read-on.

Knowledge/experience with Microsoft Professional Suite (Word, Excel, & PowerPoint).

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
