Job Summary
We are seeking a Cost Accountant & Business Intelligence analyst to lead our cost accounting efforts within our multisite manufacturing organization. This role requires a strong understanding of cost accounting principles, processes, and systems, as well as the ability to analyze transaction level data to support decision-making. The Senior Accountant will collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior management to provide accurate and timely information for effective cost management and controls. Responsibilities
Cost Accounting
- Develop and maintain cost accounting policies, procedures, and controls across multiple manufacturing locations including implementation at newly acquired businesses
- Oversee the accurate timely and recording of inventory balances, cost transactions and cost allocations including setting and periodic review of labor and overhead rates
- Monitor and analyze cost variances, investigate discrepancies, and partner with operations to implement corrective action
- Maintain standard cost data in ERP, including update of standard costs for raw materials and cost rollup of subassemblies and finished goods to support new product launches and ongoing manufacturing improvements
- Prepare and present cost reports, forecasts, and budget analysis to senior management
- Collaborate with senior leadership to assist with the budgeting process.
- Collaborate with other departments to identify cost reduction opportunities and drive cost optimization initiatives
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and compliance requirements
Financial Analysis and Reporting
- Assist with month end and year end close,
- Conduct in-depth analysis of expense data to identify trends, patterns, and areas of improvement
- Provide insights and recommendations based on cost analysis to support strategic decision-making
- Participate in the development and evaluation of business cases for new projects, products, or services
- Identify and implement the use of strategic metrics to enhance business operations

- Cost Accounting Experience: In-depth knowledge and hands on experience in cost accounting principles, techniques, and best practices and ability to use this knowledge in practice within an ERP system at a transaction level.

- Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills to interpret complex financial data, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights to support decision-making

- Financial Acumen: Solid understanding of financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
Job Qualifications (Experience, Education, Knowledge, and Skills)
- Education: BA in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost accounting. Experience in manufacturing or production environments is highly desirable as is experience in public accounting
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in cost accounting software and ERP systems with advanced knowledge of NetSuite, Tableau and excel for financial analysis and modeling
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and cost accounting standards
- Industry knowledge: Familiarity with industry-specific cost accounting practices and compliance matters
- Problem-solving abilities: Demonstrated ability to analyze complex problems, identify root causes and propose effective solutions in a timely manner
- Strategic perspective: Ability to integrate multiple manufacturing sites into consistent process and systems
The anticipated salary range for this position is $115,000—$150,000. The salary offer will depend on multiple factors which may include the successful candidate's skills, experience and other qualifications, in addition to work location if remote.
