POSITION SUMMARYThe Senior Corporate Accounting Analyst ensures monthly accruals and accounting entries are accurately calculated and posted to support month-end close process. Responsibilities also include accurate account GL reconciliations and analysis as well as preparation and accurate recording of cash deposits. This position collaborates closely with other departments and under limited supervision and guidance reports to the Director & Assistant Controller. This role is located in Denver, CO.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES- In partnership with various departments, prepare accruals in accordance with GAAP associated with G&A expenses by evaluating actual spend compared to expectations of each department during the period.
- Responsible for reviewing cash deposits made by FP&A and determining the appropriate G/L accounts to record the cash transactions.
- Partner with the Corporate Accounting team to timely prepare and process recurring monthly journal entries, fixed asset depreciation and prepaid amortization, including accruals to facilitate an accurate and timely GL close.
- Prepare timely and accurate account reconciliations and communicate any identified risk or inaccuracies to management prior to applicable close period.
- Maintain a Senior Corporate Analyst desk manual for the positions key responsibilities and take ownership over ensuring assigned tasks are crossed trained to others on the team.
- Serve as primary backup for the other Senior Corporate Accounting Analyst and/or Sr. JIB Accountant and ensure responsibilities are thoroughly cross trained.
- Partner with Corporate Accounting team to support vendor/owner change process.
- Maintain respectful and productive working relationships within and across all work groups, ensuring effective collaboration and cooperation.

- Work closely with external auditors to provide appropriate documentation for financial statement audits.
- Provide responses/resolutions in a timely and thorough manner to all internal and external inquiries.
- Review and maintain internal controls walkthrough documentation, make necessary recommendations for updates based on the current processes, assist with identifying and/or maintaining key controls.
- Prepare variance analysis for various cost drivers and present findings in an organized a thoughtful manner to the broader team and management.
- Proactively review processes and procedures for accuracy and propose efficiencies for continuous improvement.
- Troubleshoot and test ERP modules specific to job functions as needed.
- Provide timely analysis of various G/L accounts as needed.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
- Four or more year’s accounting experience in the upstream oil and gas industry
- None
- 6+ year’s working experience with Corporate and Operational Accounting
- Knowledge of US GAAP as it applies to E&P upstream companies
- Knowledge of full-cost accounting practices
- Experience with Quorum Upstream ERP system
- Knowledge of COPAS expenditure practices and joint operating agreements
- Knowledge of oil & gas upstream operations practices
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business or equivalent relevant experience

- Individual contributor with an impact internal to Jonah Energy on corporate and operations accounting.
