The Role
The Senior Process Controls Engineer is an individual contributor role with recognized technical expertise for the successful launch of new automation programs at the Bedford Castings Operations plant. The position will reside as part of the overall GM Global Automation team.
What You Will Do (Responsibilities)
Launch new and major casting programs for controls engineering execution
Support plant floor equipment installation/retool. Track open issues and countermeasures for controls related issues, resolve in a timely manner to meet project timing.
Participate in plant floor startup and debug after equipment installation, driving completion of project controls deliverables.
Support deployment of new technology to minimize risks
Support the development of ME error proofing plans
Participate in safety evaluation and validation activities with the plant engineering and safety teams
Support approval controls drawings, software reviews, and conduct controls run-offs at OEM site
Support deployment of best common systems and methods as defined in the GM Global Controls Bill of Process
Actively participate in plant Throughput Improvement initiatives to achieve launch production ramp plan.
Additional Description
Your Skills And Abilities (Required Qualifications)
5+ years of automation controls experience
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
Technical knowledge and ability in process engineering disciplines
Experience with Rockwell Automation or Siemens PLC and HMI's
Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others
Proven ability in project management skills
