Boeing Commercial Airplanes is currently seeking Senior Configuration Aerodynamicists (Level 4 or Level 5) to join our Flight Sciences team in Everett, WA. In this role, you will have the responsibility of evaluating the overall aerodynamic design, with a primary focus on supporting one of the following areas: high lift aerodynamics, high-speed aerodynamics, propulsion aerodynamics, or aerodynamic flight testing/validation. The ideal candidate will be highly proficient in aerodynamics and possess a creative and curious mindset.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including: Senior (Level 4) and Senior (Level 5) Configuration Aerodynamicists
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.
Position Responsibilities:
Leads the performance analysis and aerodynamic design for flight vehicles and their components.
Establishes a standardized scope and framework for design processes and identifies common tools.
Develops strategies and drives improvement of vehicle design, performance, safety, and development cycle times.
Develops strategies and leads the advancement of technology readiness levels to create, validate and implement new designs, test processes, analysis methods, and procedures.
Evaluates and integrates the aerodynamic design's impact on the overall aircraft, considering factors such as stability and control, aircraft performance, systems operation, and structural impacts.
Oversees analyses and testing to ensure compliance with requirements.
The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Product development or conceptual airplane design experience.
Configuration aerodynamic design and analysis experience.
Demonstrated experience leading teams as a technical expert or integrator
5 or more years of experience with 3D modelling software (e.g. CATIA)
5 or more years of experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Wind Tunnel Testing
3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Typical Education/Experience:
Senior (Level 4):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years' related work experience, Master+7 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Senior (Level 5):
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from
an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+9 years' related work experience, Master+12 years' related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
