This position is responsible for the watering of nursery plants and repairing of the nursery’s irrigation components such as sprinklers, broken PVC pipe, and broken valves. As work load permits, the position will support other departments as needed/instructed to meet company objectives. Weekend work required.

Responsibilities:

1. Responds to Grower’s needs and concerns regarding irrigation.

2. Drives throughout nursery to turn on/off valves.

3. Operates power equipment and hand tools to install, maintain, and repair above-ground components including irrigation lines, sprinkler heads, valves, etc.

4. Performs seasonal maintenance such as system charging and draining.

5. Checks irrigation system for leaks, lakes, and dry areas and communicates underground issues to the Irrigation Crew Lead to be repaired.

6. Frequent radio communication within department and with other departments.

7. Takes part and uphold Nursery Cleanliness Guidelines.

Qualification Requirements:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty at minimum training rates. · Must have excellent attendance history.

· Must be able to organize and manage time to meet the nursery’s water needs.

· Must be able to read and write in English and possess good math skills.

· Must be able to work safely. Safety is always the highest priority.

· Able to work well with others in small groups.

· Able to work extra hours as required to meet department objectives.

· Able to work in other departments or other job duties as needed to meet company objectives.

· Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.

· Valid Washington State driver’s license.

· History of dependable work.

Required Education and/or Experience:

High school education or GED preferred

Previous experience with irrigation or plumbing systems helpful but not required..

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as the department handbook, work assignments and safety rules.

Physical Requirements:

· Must be able to work in extremes of Washington weather (hot, cold, rain, wind)

· Able to work for short periods of strenuous activity.

· Able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $16.50 - $17.50 per hour
