Schneider is seeking an experienced Senior Compliance Safety Specialist to be accountable for managing, analyzing and identifying trends of the violation and crash data for the organization. You will be responsible for analyzing the details of the violations and crashes, identifying gaps or discrepancies and taking the initiative to provide the written request and documentation to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration/State agency for review. By identifying and correcting discrepancies, you will have a direct impact on improving the scores of the 6 BASICs in the Safety Management System.

About the role:

  • Be the expert for the organization in FMCSRs and state-specific requirements as they pertain to the DOT Regulations (49 CFR 300-399) and the 6 Factors for Safety Management System (SMS).
  • Must take initiative to work with Operations, drivers or the state courts to obtain the details and supporting documents for violations issued during a DOT inspection to provide to the states for documentation.
  • Takes the lead to identify and research the violation, inspection or crash details and submit requests to the state agency for corrections if a discrepancy is identified.

  • Accountable to create and present findings/trends to leadership and recommend changes for improvement.
  • Point of contact for Operations and Safety Training Managers on questions regarding our processes and safety scores.
  • Ability to analyze areas of safety improvement and execute campaigns to improve CSA scores.
  • Accountable to maintain accuracy of the accident details that make up our 3-year accident registry. This is done by validating the details from various sources, and when applicable, request changes on discrepancies to crash details to either our internal Insurance group or the specific-state agency.
  • Complete and lead internal mock audits. This may require auditing a specific-business segment, account, division, or each of Schneider's six motor carriers using the six DOT factors that are used to audit a motor carrier. This will require training in multiple functional areas to be able to pull documents, count, audit, analyze, and measure the data as DOT would.

As an associate you will enjoy a strong work/life balance that includes paid vacation and holidays along with paid personal time off. You will also have access to medical, dental, and vision insurance and enjoy our company-paid life insurance and 401(k) savings with a company funded retirement plan. We also offer a results-based incentive pay program where you can earn above and beyond your base pay. Schneider values individual development and offers a wide variety of opportunities through company-paid training and more than 170 personal development courses. What are you waiting for, you will love it here!

  • Good working knowledge of accident systems/databases that manage citations and/or violations
  • Self-starter mindset with strong influencing skills, resulting in a positive outcome
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
