About the Position:
Swyfft is looking for a Senior Claims Representative, Commercial Team Lead who will provide a fair, friendly, and timely Commercial claims experience to Swyfft’s policyholders, brokers, and agents. You will be responsible for handling moderate and complex commercial claims as well as providing mentorship over staff desk adjusters handling Large Loss complex homeowner claims as well.
As a Commercial Team Lead you will also be involved in various projects supporting operations including onboarding of innovative claims technology and the development and application of Claims Best Practices.
This position is a 100% remote U.S. based opportunity. Some travel for day-to-day work, team meetings, and training will be required.
Key Responsibilities: (What you'll be asked to do)
- Investigate, analyze, and determine the extent of the insurance company's liability concerning first party Commercial property loss or damages, and effective settlement with the policyholders.
- Understand, adjust, correspond, communicate, and collaborate with public adjusters, attorneys, policyholders and brokers.
- Use loss damage estimates and application of the insurance contract to calculate benefits payable under the policy and either make payments or decline payments on claims and claim payments submitted by staff desk adjusters.
- Create and maintain comprehensive claim handling documentation in the electronic claims management system and related applications.
- Instruct, guide, and lead inexpert desk adjusters and independent desk adjusters to ensure that all assigned claims are resolved timely, reserved accurately, and resolved fairly.
- Partner with the State Claims Leader regarding the hiring and performance management of designated team members.
The Successful Candidate: (what we're looking for)
- You're comfortable working in a metrics driven claims environment.
- You come to us with a technical commercial claims background and have hands-on experience in loss estimating and construction.
- You have a solid technical background that includes an excellent understanding (and hands-on experience) in loss estimating, commercial and homeowner policy coverage's, and construction.
- Both internal (your peers) and external clients commend your excellent communication and follow up skills.
- You're detail oriented, organized and can multi-task like nothing anyone has ever seen before!
- You're a get the job done, self-starter that thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Some Requirements:
- Understanding valued policy states and knowledge of which perils apply and when tendering limits is appropriate.
- You are currently licensed or eligible for licensing as an adjuster in the states of: TX, FL, CA, NY, and AL (we can provide assistance with your licensing fees).
- You come to us with 5+ years of experience adjusting first party Commercial losses. Commercial Field adjusting or Commercial CAT adjusting experience is preferred. One or more claims-related industry certifications or claims supervisory experience is required.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred but not required.
- High School Diploma or its equivalent (GED) is required.
Computer Skills:
- Must be proficient with MS Office and other internal insurance related programs, systems or applications. (Outlook, Word and Excel)
- Ability to communicate effectively using programs such as Slack & MS Teams. You are comfortable sharing screens and video chatting.
- Previous experience using systems such as Symbility is a plus.
